Meet José! José is another one of our co-artistic directors. He will be singing in the bass section of the choir, as well as conducting Josquin’s Ave Maria and Buxtehude’s Ad Latus.

José A. Azurdia Lamadrid, a choral conductor and singer from Guatemala, recently completed a Master's degree in Choral Conducting at Georgia State University. He began his musical journey with the Coro Victoria, participating in various national and international festivals. In Costa Rica, he contributed to the Coro Intermezzo, undertaking successful international tours and earning accolades such as 1st place in the Folk Acapella category at Harmonie, Germany, and Grand Prize at the Musica Eterna Festival in Rome, Italy. He has also been involved with musical ensembles like Sesquialtera (Ibero-American Early Music) and El Café Chorale from Costa Rica. José directed various choirs, including those in the Pre-University Program of the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica. Additionally, he served as a guest conductor for esteemed ensembles such as the Rafael Landívar University Choir and Vocalis from Guatemala. In 2023, he participated in a Choral Conducting Masterclass at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Istanbul, Turkey.

Meet Elizabeth! Elizabeth Daly is another one of our co-artistic directors. She will be singing in the soprano section tonight, as well as conducting Bach’s BWV 106.

Elizabeth Daly is a conductor, soprano, and music educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Syracuse University, and a recent graduate of Georgia State University’s MM in choral conducting where she studied with Dr. Deanna Joseph. As a conductor, Elizabeth has served as co-conductor of Voces Amicis, a semi-professional choir in the Atlanta area, and has substitute taught the choirs at Agnes Scott College. She will also attend the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival as a conducting fellow this summer. This past year, Elizabeth served as conducting intern with the Georgia Festival Chorus, and music intern at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta, where she conducted the chancel choir regularly and directed the children’s choir. As a Soprano, Elizabeth received performance honors from Syracuse University during her Bachelor’s degree, and recently appeared in the opera chorus of the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra’s production of Dido and Aeneas. As a music educator, Elizabeth was instructor of record for Fundamentals of Aural Skills at Georgia State University, and served as a Graduate Assistant for the Choral area. Elizabeth also has experience as a researcher of choral music, having served as a member of the research team for the Empowering Silenced Voices Database with Chorosynthesis, and presented her research on Nun-Composers of the Italian Renaissance at multiple conferences including the University of Toronto Graduate Music Conference. She is looking forward to the inaugural performance of the Atlanta Festival Consort and is so thankful to be part of this project!

Meet Tav! Tav is one of our co-Artistic directors, is singing in the tenor section of the choir, and is playing the sackbut on tonight’s performance. Join us at 7pm, Emory Presbyterian Church!

Tavish Daly, musicologist and trombonist, has served for two seasons as the principal trombonist of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra and the Director of Operations with the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. He is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he was a finalist of the Oberlin Concerto Competition and was awarded the James H. Hall Prize in Musicology. An active freelance trombonist in Atlanta, Tavish has also appeared with The Atlanta Opera. As a musicologist, Tavish has published liner notes for Gothic Records and Bridge Records releases. Specializing in British music and theology, he has also published a study on Edward Elgar’s oratorio The Dream of Gerontius, and has presented an examination of the Catholic musical cultures of Edwardian London for the North American British Music Studies Association. Bound by marriage to choral music, Tavish is also a staff singer at All Saint’s Episcopal Church. He will matriculate at Duke University this fall to begin a Ph.D. program in musicology.

Meet Wanda Yang Temko! Wanda is singing as Soprano soloist on BWV 106. We are thrilled to have her with us!

Soprano Wanda Yang Temko is a respected singer, voice teacher, and arts advocate. She holds a doctorate in voice performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana along with degrees from Georgia State University and Emory University. Sought after as a recitalist and soloist, recently she performed the role of Evangelist in David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion with Kinnara. She is featured on New Trinity Baroque's recording of Christmas Cantatas and Concertos on Édition Lilac. She also performs and records with the Meridian Chorale and the Grammy-Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Choruses. Dr. Yang Temko maintains an active private voice studio in Atlanta and serves on Kinnara’s Board of Directors.

Meet Anneliese! Anneliese is singing in our alto section, and we are so happy to have her with us!

Anneliese Depenthal is a recent graduate of the Choral Conducting Masters program at Georgia State University (GSU). She originally hails from Orlando, FL, where she discovered her love of singing as a chorister in the Orlando Deanery Girls Choir. A graduate of Valparaiso University, she was a member, section leader, and eventual president of the Valparaiso University Chorale. Before beginning her time at GSU, Anneliese interned with the music ministry at the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany before starting her employment as the Music Minister, Children’s Ministry Coordinator, and Tech Coordinator at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Wellington, FL. When not making music, Anneliese enjoys long walks, coffee with friends, traveling, reading, and sailing with her family.

Meet Juliana! Juliana Bolaño is singing in the soprano section of the choir, and we are so thankful for her!

Juliana Bolaño is a recent graduate of Georgia State University’s M.M. in Choral Conducting program. As well as working with Dr. Jennifer Sengin and Dr. Deanna Joseph in the choral conducting program, she also works at the Cathedral of Christ the King as a staff singer. Juliana has recently branched out into research – she has presented at the Georgia State University Graduate Conference and the University of Toronto Graduate Music Conference on her research on Nun-Composers of the Italian Renaissance. Prior to starting at Georgia State, she lived in Deland, Florida, where she studied Music Education at Stetson University. During her time at Stetson University, she served as the CNAfME Chapter Vice President, ACDA Chapter President, and as a member of the Student Advisory Council at her School of Music. Before graduating in May of 2022, she also had the privilege to work as a student conductor with the Stetson Chorale under the direction of Dr. Andrew Larson, where she began to discover her love for conducting.

Meet Dr. Alexandra Snyder Dunbar! Alexandra is Co-director of Amethyst Baroque and will be playing organ with us on Friday. We are so thankful to be collaborating with her!

Dr. Alexandra Snyder Dunbar is an award-winning harpsichordist, pianist, and pedagogue. At Juilliard, she received a full scholarship as a resident in the prestigious C. V. Starr Fellowship in the Doctoral program. Dr. Dunbar received a Doctorate and Masters of Music in Harpsichord Performance at the Juilliard School, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music, and graduated high school from Interlochen Arts Academy. Solo performances with orchestra include with Orchestra 54, Dorian Baroque Orchestra, The Memphis Chamber Music Society, The Symphony of Westchester, and The Chamber Orchestra of New York. Dr. Dunbar performed with The Dryden Ensemble, the Foundlings Ensemble, The New York Philharmonic, and the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. Dr. Dunbar is on the music faculty at the University of North Georgia, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Athens Technical College. She maintains a lively private teaching studio and busy performance calendar with Amethyst Baroque Ensemble, Astralis Baroque, New Orleans Jazz Stompers, and is organist at Madison First United Methodist Church. Dr. Dunbar lives in Athens, Georgia with her three children, three dogs, and two cats.

Next up is Jacob! Jacob Thatch McDonald is soloing on the Buxtehude as bass, and is singing in the bass section of the choir. We are so happy to have him with us!

Jacob Thatch McDonald, baritone, is a Georgia-native performer, conductor, and actor. He has just completed his graduate program at the Georgia State School of Music, obtaining his Master of Music with dual concentrations in both Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting. In his time at school, he has played such notable roles as Escamillo in Carmen, Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi, and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. Outside of school, Jacob plays an active role in the Atlanta classical music scene, recently performing opera professionally with both Atlanta Opera and the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. Beyond his musical pursuits, Jacob enjoys spending his time playing board games and telling stories with his wife and their two cats.

Meet Jeanne Johnson! Jeanne is playing violin on this concert, and we are so grateful to have her with us!

Baroque violinist JEANNE JOHNSON’s music can be heard around the world, from Brazil to Indonesia, Sweden to Turkey. She has been concertmaster for the Washington Bach Consort and Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, and has performed, toured and recorded with numerous groups including Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Portland Baroque Orchestra, Chatham Baroque, Asheville Baroque (including a concert at the Viola da Gamba Society 2018 Conclave), Bach Akademie Charlotte, North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, Nashville Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Opera and Ballet, Charleston Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic and Chattanooga Symphony. A winner of an Early Music America Professional Development Award in 2002, Jeanne gave a recital at the Yale University Collection of Musical Instruments in 2005, and has been featured on several radio broadcasts including Harmonia, Performance Today, and WNYC. Performances by her Baroque trio Music of the Spheres include The Frick Collection, the Tage Alter Musik Festival in Germany, the Berkeley Early Music Festival mainstage, and the San Francisco Early Music Society. In 2016, Centaur Records released Jeanne’s recordings of violin works by Johann Jakob Walther and Jean-Fery Rebel with Eco dell’Anima. She has also recorded for Koch, Magnatune and the Canadian Broadcasting Company, and has served as orchestra director and violin faculty at Clayton State University. www.jeannespheres.com
