On his 86th birthday, Wendy Beetlestone, Chancellor of the University of Liverpool presented Ringo with his Doctor of Music. Ringo said: “I want to thank the University of Liverpool for this Honorary Degree and for coming all the way to LA to bestow it. I’m really honored. Today is my birthday, and as everyone knows, I was born in Liverpool. It is my hometown and I’ll always love it.

“I’ve been thinking back on my life a lot lately - and when I chose to become a drummer full time - my family discouraged me. And they could have been right! But they weren’t - it all worked out. So to all the graduates back in Liverpool - I send Peace & Love and want to say don’t be afraid to follow your dreams - or take that right turn and see where it goes…it could lead to a Honorary Doctorate from the University of Liverpool!” 🎓🎂🌟🐘🍒🥦😎✌️💜🌺🎶🍒☯️ 💙

Robert De Niro said when presenting the award to Bruce Springsteen "a man who knows how to use his voice. He uses it to give voice to the powerless and uses it to lead the resistance. He is fearless and direct". Congratulations to Bruce Springsteen on receiving the Harry Belafonte Voices For Social Justice award at the 2026 Tribeca Festival in New York City. The award was presented by Robert De Niro, and Springsteen was interviewed by Bono. In the interview, Springsteen said he regretted not allowing his song "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" from his 2007 album "Magic" to be featured in a Gap advertisement supporting RED, the campaign Bono and Bobby Shriver founded to combat AIDS. “That was a big mistake ... I should have said yes,”. Springsteen closed the awards show with the song Land of Hope and Dreams.
