I believe this Sankofa (looking back) moment invites us to collectively recall Freedom - as the needed equal opposite force of Love - in order propels us forward to build the future we want to see (to see forward).

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF REMEMBRANCE ✨

It started at Five Points Station and tore through downtown.

September 22

✨5:00 p.m. — opening reception at the Georgia State University CMII lab, presenting the work of digital artist and Praise House Project collaborator, Kimberly Binns Kimberly Binns on the giant digital screen, overlooking Woodruff Park, where the massacre began.

✨ ILLUMINATION ON VIEW NIGHTLY 9.22-25:
Sunset–10:00 p.m.

✨6:00 p.m. — Exhibition opening and 1906 timeline, APEX Museum The APEX Museum

✨ILLUMINATION ON VIEW NIGHTLY 9.22-25:
Sunset–10:00 p.m. — at the Praise House at South-View Cemetery South-View Cemetery, where the victims are laid to rest.

✨6:00 p.m. — Virtual interview with artist Fabian Williams, visual artist muralist who created the 1906 Remembrance mural at FCS, in South Atlanta, once the site of Brownsville, where the massacre was met by armed resistance and ended.

Let us remember their bravery and their hope. Let us remember their strength. Let us remember those who survived, rebuilt, and worked to reforged a new freedom again.

In acknowledgment of the 120th anniversary of the 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre, The Praise House Project presents nightly illuminations featuring the work of Kimberly Binns Kimberly Binns - taking place at both Georgia State University in the CMII lab at Woodruff Park where the massacre began, in South Atlanta, where the massacre ended in Brownsville by citizen led resistance, at South-View Cemetery Foundation where the victims are laid to rest.
