The idea of making portraits out of felt came to me junior year of high school while looking for a unique and one of a kind graduation gift for a friend. I evened coined a name for them, "Feltraits". rietta Cobb Museum Metro Montage Juried Exhibit along with 80 other artists who beat out 200 other artist for a spot to display their work. Several works from Face 2 Felt Originals have also been featured at Studio Clout during one of the many Castleberry Art Strolls here in Atlanta's Art District, Holder Photography Studio also in the Castleberry Hill Art district and Urban Grind Coffeehouse. FAQ:

How my pieces are made:

The face is built up with several layers of felt then shaded. The "feltrait" is glued to a painted canvas and framed. I build the frame into a shadow box using foam core lined by black felt. There is no glass covering because I feel it takes away from the piece and makes it less interactive. My pieces take approximately anywhere from 2-8 weeks to complete depending on my workload. Usually it is on the shorter side BUT if it is needed by a certain date or for a special occasion, I will do my VERY best to have it to you days before. This piece comes ready to hang. Please make sure to hang it in a clean and dry area. Feel free to touch, (you will want to) but with clean, dry hands only to preserve aesthetics. I guarantee you will LOVE your ORIGINAL ONE-OF-A-KIND piece!!!
