Strengthening Communities Through Theatre

Fifteen years ago, The Fox Theatre Institute was established by the Fox Theatre to foster historic preservation, community building, economic development, and arts programming for historic theatres and their communities throughout Georgia. The founding of the Fox Theatre Institute echoed the 1970s “Save the Fox” campaign which supported the present-day restoration and preservation of our National

Historic Landmark theatre in the heart of midtown Atlanta. Embracing the talent and expertise of our professional staff, coupled with decades of preservation and operations experience, we serve dozens of theatres through innovative programs and partnerships of our Fox Theatre Institute. A few of those highlighted areas include:

• Programming and booking, historic restoration, strategic planning, and community development at nominal
costs to participants.

• Providing technical support for historic theatre operators throughout Georgia and important financial support
through $2.7 million dollars in grant funding. We assist in bringing landmark buildings to life and help serve as
a catalyst for re-investment in cities and counties across Georgia.

• Manages Georgia Presenters, a statewide booking consortium for arts programming. Nearly 60 presenting
organizations throughout Georgia work together to provide cost-effective cultural programs, leveraging their
purchasing power to bring outstanding artists and performances to their hometown.

Thank you to the team from the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation in Rome for joining us in Atlanta to celebrate this year's Fox Gives grant recipients!

The DeSoto Theatre has been a cornerstone of downtown Rome for generations, bringing people together through the arts while preserving an important piece of the community's history. We're proud to support its continued restoration and look forward to seeing this historic theatre inspire and serve the Rome community for many years to come.

We're excited to welcome Georgia Presenters back to the Fox Theatre this fall!

On Monday, October 5, Fox Gives will host the Georgia Presenters Fall Meeting, bringing together representatives from nearly 60 presenting organizations from across the state. From nonprofits and local governments to colleges and universities, this incredible network is united by a shared commitment to expanding access to the performing arts in communities throughout Georgia.

Attendees will enjoy a day of professional development, networking, guest speakers, block booking discussions, and opportunities to strengthen partnerships that support vibrant arts programming across our state.

This meeting is supported in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.

As students head back to the classroom, we're excited to bring the magic of the Fox Theatre back to elementary schools across Georgia through Fox in a Box!

We're also thrilled to welcome Brandon L. Smith to the Fox in a Box team! An accomplished Atlanta-based performer, actor, and teaching artist, Brandon is passionate about helping young people discover their creativity, confidence, and voice through the power of theatre. As a professional performer, Brandon has appeared with the Alliance Theatre, City Springs Theatre Company, Actor’s Express, True Colors Theatre Company, and in productions including The Wiz, Frozen, Choir Boy, Cinderella, and Legally Blonde.

We can't wait for students across Georgia to experience his energy, enthusiasm, and love of storytelling.

Congratulations to our friends at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts on the opening of the Meta Shaw Coleman Children’s Imagination Station!

The Meta Shaw Coleman Children’s Imagination Station is an interactive STEAM destination designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and connection. Visitors explore Georgia’s industries, including agriculture, aviation, engineering, music, and more.

Through hands-on learning, the Imagination Station empowers guests to see themselves as the future of South Georgia and beyond.

Every great restoration is built one step at a time, and we're excited to see the continued progress at Hart County Community Theatre as the rehabilitation of its more than century-old home moves forward.

As their partner through the Fox Gives Multi-Year Grant Program, we're grateful for the continued investment and collaboration of the Hartwell Downtown Development Authority and the Appalachian Regional Commission, whose support is helping bring new life to this treasured historic theater.

We recently had the opportunity to preview design renderings for the theater's beautifully refreshed interior, and we can't wait to see this vision become a reality. Here's a sneak peek at what's to come!
