Part of my ongoing Double Consciousness series, this work explores the invisible systems that shape access, identity, and perception. Using mirrored imagery from my London Plane Tree studies, the composition begins to resemble something psychological—almost mask-like—where beauty, tension, and distortion coexist.

Through my hyper-sharpening process of acrylic embellishment layered onto archival photographic print, the surface becomes dimensional and alive, forcing the viewer to question what is inherited, what is earned, and what remains unseen.

“Nepotism” will be featured in my upcoming solo exhibition The Weight and the Witness opening June 18th at the Chastain Arts Center.

Final touches on the final piece for my upcoming solo exhibition, The Weight and the Witness. “Circulatory” becomes the newest and most embellished work in my Double Consciousness series. Looking forward to seeing it on the walls at June 18th.

“To Behold”

Some images ask to be seen. Others ask something more of us. To Behold exists in that space between observation and reflection. Drawn from my London Plane Tree Study series, the mirrored composition transforms the natural textures of bark into something psychological and almost human—an image that shifts as you sit with it.

The work invites pause. What first appears abstract begins to reveal presence, memory, and suggestion. Like a visual Rorschach, the piece becomes less about what is shown and more about what the viewer brings to it.

To behold is not simply to look—it is to witness.
