Throwback Thursday, all the way back to 2009!

Seventeen years ago, Atlanta’s craft scene looked a little different. The tools may have changed, the makers have evolved, and the definition of “craft” has stretched in some wonderfully weird directions But one thing hasn’t changed: we’ve been here cheering on the makers.

For 21 years, Indie Craft Experience has been amplifying the folks using traditional techniques to make decidedly untraditional crafts. From handmade goods and fine art to unexpected materials, wildly creative ideas, and everything in between, we’ve watched Atlanta’s creative community grow, shift, experiment, and flourish.

It’s Maker Monday! And today we’re putting the spotlight on Ayla of .stardust.

Ayla was hand-picked to create this year’s Indie Craft Experience scarecrow at the , and honestly, we couldn’t have dreamed up a better fit. Her creepy, dreamlike style paired with her expertise in puppetry made her the perfect maker to bring “The Maker” to life.

We’re ridiculously proud to have Ayla’s work representing Indie Craft Experience at the Garden this year. And if you love what she does, you can catch Ayla in person at this year’s Indie Craft Winter Experience Dec. 5+6.
