Cosmetology and barbering are not just about cutting hair; they are science-based professions that require an understanding of the human body, chemical composition, disease prevention and infection control. By removing licensing requirements we risk endangering public health by potentially exposing clients to untrained practitioners who lack this crucial knowledge.

Senate Bill 354 undermines this professionalism by suggesting that anyone can perform these tasks without training or certification. This not only devalues our profession but also puts consumers at risk.

We urge you to join us in opposing Senate Bill 354. Let's protect our professionals' credibility and our consumers' safety by ensuring proper education remains a requirement for licensure within the cosmetology & barber industry.
