Hey y’all! We’ve been fortunate to have in all month working on their 7th (!!) LP with producer Mike Sapone and engineering. What a great crew to have here! The band spent 4 weeks tracking with Mike and Tomas. ’s dog Cheese held the new lounge area down while the band worked on songs for the new album. Hannah filled the studio with art. We’re thrilled to have them here working out of .studios.atl!

Kitchen is 95% complete. Sheetrock, paint and systems are all done. Just waiting to finish the floor install and light fixtures. We hope to be done end of next week...

Big changes happening here at Maze Studios ATL. Complete renovation of the kitchen and bathroom area underway. Studio will be quiet for a week or two while we transition to a more refined, more comfortable and more spacious hang out area. Stay tuned for updates…

Another great .studios.atl Assistant Clinic! Every few months we invite some more experienced engineers into the studio to coach and mentor some of the less experienced engineers. It’s always a lot of fun and everyone in the room learns something new about the studio, the console and/or the patchbay. These clinics are primarily focused on the idiosyncrasies of Maze Studios versus general recording concepts. Though in the future, we might start a series of recording workshops focused on general skills , f there seems to be demand for that. If that’s something you’d like to see, please drop a comment below.

Ben Etter has been a fixture at Maze over the last decade. Engineering, production and mixing credits include both well-established artists such as Deerhunter, Cate Le Bon, Hazel English or Washed Out as well as independent artists from Atlanta and around the world. Originally from the Swiss mountains, he migrated to Atlanta, GA to focus completely on making records after spending years as an international recording and touring artist himself. Ben cares about meaningful songs and performances more than anything else and is always all-in on the right project, no matter the size or budget.

Atlanta based LGBTQ musician and Audio Engineer, Sophia Trautman is a recent graduate from the Music Production and Keyboard performance programs at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. Before her graduation, she achieved becoming a regular engineer at venues like The Eastern, Terminal West, the Masquerade and Star Bar in Atlanta. Her prowess has allowed her to become a skillful engineer and collaborator in the studio as well. This has led her to engineer at Maze for artists such as The Strumbellas, Wiley From Atlanta, Josiah Soren, and many more.
When working with clients, Sophia approaches every song, show, and moment with a curious and passionate mission to find the truth, message, and emotional conviction of their art and help them convey that with purpose.
