Thank you to everyone that participated and attended The Chairman Stage Reading Yesterday. The cast showed up with their game faces and was the most professionals in their delivery of this work. Thank you to my wife for being an amazing partner and supporting this dream of mine. This work is truly her favorite of things I’ve written. Thank you to Windmill Arts and their team for not only opening their venue to us but for making sure we had everything we needed. And special thanks to Tory for capturing these beautiful photos of the production! Next up, we’ll be kicking off a campaign to raise funding for a fully staged production early next year.

There is a direct personal connection between Fred Hampton and Emmett Till through Fred Hampton’s mother, Iberia Hampton, as she babysat Emmett when he was a child.

August 31, 1955 Emmett’s body was discovered in the Tallahatchie River near Money, MS. He was only 14 years old.

14 years later, December 4, 1969, Fred Hampton would be slain in the height of his activism at only 21 years old.

The fact that Fred Hampton’s family had a direct link to Emmett Till underscores the intergenerational impact of racial violence and the civil rights movement on African American families and communities.

We are still progressing forward but we’re ABSOLUTELY NOT GOING BACK!
