A Simbi is a Central African guardian spirit of the water in traditional Bakongo religion, they often appear as mermaids, pottery, snakes, gourds, and fire. In this piece, a simbi's form becomes a gathering place for symbols and spiritual memory. Every mark adds another layer to the story.
