Last month I had the absolute honor of presenting these two portraits to the first two African American graduates of my dental school, Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry, Class of 1973.
✨ Dr. Matthew McRae Jr. and Dr. James Orrington ✨
The portraits were unveiled during a ceremony celebrating their 50th class reunion during alumni weekend. It was so nice to go back to a place where I spent almost 7 years of my educational career for this honor.
It is such an honor to be able to represent them and create pieces of history that will hang on the walls of the dental school for future generations to be inspired by. They are true trailblazers that laid the path for minority students like myself. These men inspire me to continue the important mentoring that I love so much to make sure we continue to move the needle on diversity in the dental field.
These are by far the largest portraits I have painted, framed and created name plates for. You know I have some behind the scenes footage coming soon 😉🎨
