The Hair Journey Ballet presented by & Directed by will host AUDITIONS in Greensboro & Atlanta !!! Show date Oct 3 in Atlanta
More about auditions: We are looking for dedicated performers with experience in Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballet as well as other dance styles rooted in African American culture such as Tap, Majorette, African-inspired, etc.
Lead Roles:
Young Zuri (age 8 - 10 years): Small stipend. Must have previous dance training and performance experience.
Older Zuri (age 14 - 17 years): Small stipend. Must have previous dance training and performance experience
Zuri’s Mom (age 18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must have previous dance training and performance experience.
Weave Queen Understudy (18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must be well-versed in Classical Jazz
Nywele Understudy (18 and up): Paid opportunity. Must be well-versed in Ballet and Contemporary.
Ensemble Roles (8 and up) include The Beads, The Clouds, Weave Kingdom, and The Land of Locs and Fros Inhabitants: Select ensemble cast members will be offered paid contracts and/or stipends based on dance background, experience, and ensemble role. Must have dance training and performance experience in Contemporary, Jazz, or Ballet. African, Hip Hop, Pointe, and Tap dance are a plus!
Stipends range $50 - 250 (paid at end of project). Hourly rate ranges $12 - 22/hour (paid monthly)
Rehearsal dates to be determined based on cast availability. Atlanta dancers will need access to internet and rehearsal space for online rehearsals. There will be limited in-person rehearsals TBD.
Tech week: September 21 - 25 (Atlanta may need to travel to Greensboro for these dates.)
Dress Rehearsal: October 2
