To every woman, especially my sistas—you are rich, even with nothing.
You are beautiful, magnificent, brilliant, and worthy of taking up space.
May you receive honor and joy today and every day. 💕

POINT OF DEPARTURE (n.) -

1. the starting point of a line of thought or course of action
2. The precise location of a vessel, established to set a course esp. a voyage or expedition

🗺️ Introducing my new collection of small works, Points of Departure—a series of unfixed atlas entries where the boundary between the paper and the birch reflects the expansion of a single thought. Through the fluid sweeps of cerulean, Naples yellow, and India ink, these abstracted maps do not seek to navigate a physical terrain, but serve as meditations on expansion and memory as a layered medium.

🗺️ I am a cartographer, artist and mental health advocate born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. My paintings model different moods and aspects of the healing journey using color and texture. Swipe right and enjoy!

For such a time as this. We as a people need to draw up new blueprints. 🗺️

IN SOLIDARITY WITH ATLANTA ARTISTS FACING EVICTION AND UNEMPLOYMENT ISSUED BY ATL-BASED CULTURAL WORKERS
August 14, 2024

I cannot begin to describe the anger I felt after catching news of @/mintatl closing its doors and leaving my friends and colleagues evicted from their studios and jobs! This organization claims to champion and protect artists, but has shown just how little respect they have to artists and our WORK! We love this work and take great pride in how it helps shape our culture. We will no longer be thrown out and silenced in fear of what can be taken from us! WE GIVE THIS INDUSTRY LIFE!

PUT SOME RESPECT ON OUR LABOR!
PUT SOME RESPECT ON OUR WORK!
PUT SOME RESPECT ON OUR SOUL!

Day 4/100
Dimension or Intrstate Junction

Notes:
📍Inverting features: what’s in a line? Most maps begin with lines to define a space and determine direction for the eye to follow. The place setting and symbols come after.

📍Favoring monochrome and dispersion. Having fun!
