Don’t Miss Out on this Once in a Lifetime Dance Party:
Comedian and Daily Show co-host Jordan Klepper will be hosting an evening of salsa dancing, laughter, and community-building!

On April 2, we will gather in Atlanta for salsa dance lessons, joke telling, dance partner swapping, booze and mocktails - all to help raise funds for Freedom University, the only underground freedom school for undocumented students in the world!

Since 2014, Atlanta-based Freedom University has provided tuition-free courses, mental health and legal defense support, and social movement leadership training to undocumented students banned from equal access to Georgia’s public universities. Freedom U has also led vibrant direct actions and fair admissions campaigns that have increased access to private universities throughout Georgia and across the country.
As a result of this work, since 2017, more than 50% of Freedom University’s students graduate each year with a full scholarship to a four-year college.

Jordan Klepper collaborated with Freedom University for the episode “Underground University” as part of his show Klepper on Comedy Central.

Join us for community-building and salsa dancing, no matter your skills! Jordan is 6’4” and his attempts at dance resemble those of a giraffe on frozen ice.

7:00pm: Program begins, featuring Jordan Klepper and
Freedom University

8:00pm: Dance lessons

8:30pm: Dance party, with DJ La Superior!

Dress code: Colorful, comfortable, classy vibes!

Artists have always played a vital role in the antiwar movement using music, visual art, poetry, and performance to challenge imperialism, tell the truth about war, and help people imagine a world beyond violence. From protest songs to movement murals, artists have helped educate, mobilize, and bring communities together in moments when speaking out matters most.

I’m inviting you all to join me and the Artists Against Apartheid Atlanta team for When We Organize, We Win!

Our event is about turning the responsibility of art into action. We’ll be raising money to send solar panels to Cuba as part of international solidarity efforts, while bringing artists together to create, organize, and build coalitions with other artists across Atlanta.

In this moment, we must use our creativity, our stages, and our communities to connect people to the movement and stand against war and empire.

Join us as we build with artists, raise resources for Cuba, and strengthen the growing movement for peace and international solidarity.

When we organize, we win. ✊🏽🎶

Join us next Sunday, March 8th, for a very special Maqluba Community Iftar & Gallery Closing Night 🌙

It’ll be evening of art, delicious food, and good company—open to everyone, whether you’re fasting or not! We’d love for this to be a true potluck, so if you’d like to share a dish, please sign up before next Wednesday! 🍽️

(Friendly reminder to please be mindful of food restrictions as most people observing Ramadan do not eat pork products).

This is also your last chance to bid! Our gallery silent auction closes that day. If you’ve got your eye on a piece (or already won one), please plan to be present! This is a fundraiser exhibit so all proceeds will go directly towards helping a recently resettled Gaza family in our community ❤️

🗓️ Sunday, March 8th
⏰ 7:30 - 9 pm
📍 Soapbox Gallery at The Little Five Points Community Center ()

“Good education means to create disobedience…

I teach creativity and dissidence and when I go to my class I tell them

I cannot teach creativity , I cannot teach dissidence,

But what I can do, is undo, what education did to you”

“Keep politics out of art” is what people say when they want you to stop making them uncomfortable. RP 🙏🏽

When they want you to write about pain without naming who caused it.

When they want you to write about hope without saying what we’re hoping for.

When they want beauty that costs them nothing.

But your rent is political. Your healthcare is political. Your safety is political. The fact that you can afford broccoli or can’t is political. Who gets to exist freely and who doesn’t is political.

Politics isn’t something you add to art. It’s the condition under which art gets made.

A gifted poet writes about power and people say “too political”

But complaining about immigration, about the cost of living, about waiting times at the GP?

Apparently that’s just... conversation.

You don’t want “no politics”

You want politics you don’t have to think about.
Politics that doesn’t challenge you.
Politics that lets you stay comfortable.

That’s not how this works.

Art without politics is decoration.

And artists are not simply here to decorate your life whilst the world burns.

If this makes you uncomfortable, good.

Discomfort is where change begins.

(RSVP lN BIO) Meet the artists 👆🏽THIS SATURDAY, ATL Radical Art & ‘s Soapbox Gallery welcomes our community back for an intimate conversation with the artists of ‘MAQLUBA: A Visual Mosaic of Palestinian Resistance’, our currently running exhibit curated by Saja Khader, Artist Member of ATL Radical Art.

Saturday January 10th, 7-9PM
SOAPBOX Gallery, 1083 Austin Ave NE
*Free and open to the public
w/ light bites & beverages!
*RSVP encouraged

Through visual art, writing, and collective expression, MAQLUBA reflects on the ongoing genocide in Gaza and celebrates the resilience of the Palestinian people. This exhibit features Palestinian artists in the diaspora as well as accomplice artists.

Breaking away from traditional panels, SOAPBOX Artists Talks offer a generative space for communities to engage with their artists in an exchange of thoughts rather than close-ended Q & A’s . Exhibiting artists will talk about their works and processes, but the conversation will go deeper into how their roles (and art in general) are a vital force in the fight for collective liberation.

We’d love to have your participation!
