SNAPCO: Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative is a Black LGBT organization in Atlanta that was founded in 2013 for the purpose of building safety within black, LGBT communities. The first project they launched was a "policing alternative program" offering diversion to people to call an alternate number for community support to connect an individual who might be experiencing mental health issues, homelessness, or addiction to support networks without involving the police. This initiative became its own organization (PAD, Policing Alternatives and Diversion Initiative) Snapco currently provides direct support and community education, and are working in partnership with the Citizen app to provide an alternative to calling the police. For the dedicated work of activism Snapco has been continually engaged in fighting the funding of Cop City, we are very proud for them to be a recipient of this fundraiser.
Community Estrella: Community Estrella and supporters focus on raising awareness and offering support for the Trans and Latinx community. In addition to providing direct support to trans people, Community Estrella engages in community education and advocacy. This organization helped create the first Trans Liberation Day at the capitol this spring in response to SB 140, a ban on the most significant forms of gender affirming healthcare for minors.
