🚨☕ Would a sign like this make you walk right back out?
I saw a coffee shop with a message posted right on the window:
“NO TIPPING = NO SERVICE.”
“A minimum 18% tip is required.”
“Tipping is mandatory.”
And honestly… that would make me stop before I even stepped inside. 😳
I understand that workers deserve fair pay, and I have no problem rewarding good service. But when a tip becomes a requirement just to receive service, is it really a tip anymore?
If customers are expected to pay an extra 18%, why not simply include that cost in the price from the beginning?
Show me the actual price of the coffee, let me decide if I want to buy it, and be upfront about what I'm paying.
A gratuity should be something a customer chooses based on the service—not something they’re told they must pay before they even order.
Would you stay and order anyway, or would a sign like this have you walking out? 🤔👇
