Sandler Hudson Gallery opened in 1989 featuring the work of contemporary artists from the Southeastern region. Since that time the gallery has continued its commitment to exhibiting provocative work in all media, by emerging and established artists nationwide. Sandler Hudson also provides client services including placement, installation and cataloging of your collection

the historic Westside district of Atlanta’s Midtown area. Sandler Hudson Gallery is owned by Atlanta natives, Robin Sandler and Debbie Hudson, who have been actively involved in Atlanta’s art community since 1982.

This past weekend we had the incredible honor of hosting artist, friend, and writer, Donna Mintz and members of our community as she read from her new book STARS AT NOON.

Donna was kind enough to sign copies and share with us details and aspects of her book, revealing not only her process as a writer but as an artist and person as well.

We thank Donna for her commitment and sustained practice as an artist and for all the years of working together.

ABOUT:
Weaving essay, memoir, and natural history with biography, STARS AT NOON is one artist’s pilgrimage through a book and a love letter to its author, James Agee, whose untimely death becomes the thread connecting it all. We begin in the landscape of the American South, from the search for a lost grave on the author’s Middle Georgia farm, to the hazy blue mysteries of the Cumberland Plateau in Agee’s native Tennessee, and on to the hills of Hale County, Alabama, where in 1936, Agee found the subject of LET US NOW PRAISE FAMOUS MEN, his 1941 masterwork and collaboration with photographer Walker Evans that would change his life. Through seamless storytelling via wanderings in such disparate settings as The Lightning Field, artist Walter De Maria’s 1977 installation on the High Plains desert of New Mexico, to the intimate streets of Greenwich Village, STARS AT NOON delivers a meditation on art and beauty, themes that have informed the author’s visual artmaking for more than thirty years.

We are so utterly proud to share that Krista Clark has been named as a 2026 Joan Mitchell Fellow. Congratulations Krista Clark ! The Joan Mitchell Fellowship annually recognizes and supports 15 US-based artists working in the evolving fields of painting and sculpture. Encompassing long-term financial support, skills development, and community building, the multi-year Fellowship structure provides critical resources that artists need to sustain their practices.

The Fellowship provides each artist with $60,000 in unrestricted funds, distributed over the course of five years. The financial support is interwoven with learning, peer engagement, and network-building opportunities, tailored by staff based on the artists’ interests and feedback. The offerings include in-person and virtual convenings; workshops on finance, legacy planning, and self-advocacy; and consultations with arts professionals.

Krista Clark was born in Burlington, VT and lives and works in Atlanta, GA. She holds an MFA from Georgia State University (2016). She has exhibited work at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, The Studio Museum in Harlem New York and the New Museum in New York. She was the recipient of the Artadia Award and the Working Artist Project Award with MOCA GA in 2018 and was a Hudgens Prize Finalist in 2024. Clark is an Assistant Professor at Emory University.

Opening Saturday, August 15, Sandler Hudson Gallery is pleased to present ‘A Measure Without’, a three person exhibition featuring the works of InKyoung Chun (In Kyoung Chun ), Krista Clark (Krista Clark ), and Amy Pleasant (Amy Pleasant ). The opening reception will take place on August 15, 6-9pm and the exhibition will run through September 17.

Curated by Noah Reyes (Noah Reyes ), ‘A Measure Without’ positions negative space as a wellspring of possibility, an uncharted territory to be explored and considered. With a spectrum of works from representational figuration to nonrepresentational abstraction, the exhibition invokes negative space to define, dissolve, and reimagine the boundaries between figure and ground.

Sandler Hudson Gallery is pleased to announce the representation of London-based artist, Peter Lynch. With a subtle approach to his paintings, Lynch formulates layered compositions that play off gesture and repetition, wrestling with the nuances of color and serving as a reference to the greater art historical canon of abstract painting.

Lynch (b. 1971, UK) began formulating his idiosyncratic approach to abstraction in the early 1990’s, under the guidance of artists such as Callum Innes, alongside notable students Jim Lambie, Hayley and Sue Topkins. There, he discovered an abiding interest in principles of painting exploring color/non-color, probing the space between tactility and translucency. He continued his education at Goldsmiths, University of London, taught with the likes of Michael Craig-Martin and Terry Atkinson. In 2000 returned back to Glasgow School of Art to complete a 1 year residency

Lynch embarked on his interrogation of the painterly object and surface by means of bodily gesture–with rhythmic, sensual zips of the artist’s finger tracing and erasing the very structure of the grid itself.

Lynch explains the conceptual underpinnings that continue to inform his practice: “the production of a painting is never linear, it meanders, hitting obstacles along the way, the final painting with its many layers gives evidence of such a journey. ”
