Listen closely during Atlanta Ballet’s Frida and you might hear something unexpected in the orchestra: a bicycle wheel.

Composer Peter Salem’s score brings Frida Kahlo’s world to life with rich, layered sound, including unconventional instruments that add texture, surprise, and imagination to the production.
Atlanta Ballet percussionist Scott Douglas brings this unique sound to life, alternating with John Lawless throughout the run of the show.

It’s one of those details you may not notice at first, but once you know, you’ll be listening for it.
Frida is on stage at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, May 8–10.
