Kennesaw State Opens Up Year 3 with Statement Win Over San José State

Kennesaw State kicked off Year 3 in emphatic fashion, dominating San José State 28–7 behind an explosive offensive performance and a turnover-hungry defense.

Freshman quarterback Linval Knight showed poise well beyond his years, completing 17 of 27 passes for three touchdowns, with just one interception. Knight controlled the tempo from the opening drive and consistently delivered in key moments.

The ground game was anchored by senior running back G. Ogletree, who made the most of his opportunities. Ogletree totaled 79 yards on 9 carries, providing balance and physicality to the offense.

The night belonged to sophomore tight end Xavier Watson, who delivered a breakout performance. Watson hauled in 9 receptions for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns, repeatedly stretching the field and creating matchup problems the Spartans could not solve.

Defensively, Kennesaw State was relentless.
• Seniors Jaiden Kimble and Ethan Tookes each recorded interceptions, shutting down San José State’s passing attack.
• Star sophomore cornerback Micah Strickland electrified the crowd with a 59-yard pick-six, swinging momentum firmly in KSU’s favor.
• The defensive line dominated the trenches, finishing with 4 total sacks and constant pressure throughout the game.

From start to finish, Kennesaw State controlled all three phases, setting the tone for the season with a complete team performance.

Final Score: Kennesaw State 28, San José State 7

A statement win to open Year 3.

Well, well, well... we’ve got Philly again. Looking back at that NFC Championship, Eagles fans really thought they did something when we were forced to play CMC at quarterback because of Brock's injury. Then came 2023, when we finally got our 'get back' by walking into their house and dropping 42 on them. Now it’s the rubber match, the third time in four years. At the end of the day, those years are in the books. This is a new year for both teams. It’s going to be a battle in Philly. May the best team win 🤝
