Did you know? The Wylie Hotel and Mrs. P’s has an incredible LGBTQIA+ history.

In the 1960’s Mrs. P’s (at what was then The Ponce De Leon Hotel) became the first drag performance venue in Atlanta. The star of Mrs. P’s was a live-singing drag queen named Diamond Lil. In that tradition Olive d'Nightlife sings live at a monthly brunch the second Saturday of each month.

Thank you to Open Diary Dewey for the history research and findings about this important Q***r landmark.

My mom recently sent this photo of me from 4th of July c.1982, which ended up on the front page of our hometown newspaper that year. You can’t really tell, but I am crying in the photo. I rode in the bucket seat of my Mom’s bicycle during the Independence Day parade and her Women’s group was placed right in front of the Fire Department in the lineup. The big red double length fire truck’s siren wailed the entire route and so did I.

Douglas’ heritage is Scottish and with Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 returning to the World Cup 2026 after almost a three decade absence I had to find out what he knew about Tartan. Tartan is definitely not plaid! Did you know that anyone can wear tartan? Too bad he wouldn’t show me if he was a TRUE Scotsman under his kilt 😂

Watch hubby struggle when asked a trivia question and has to spell the answer. Douglas/Olive has what they describe as a semi-photographic memory, but sometimes the total recall doesn’t recall. Still though…how is there so much knowledge locked in that beautiful brain?!
