The second Drawtober prompt, 'Shadow Prince,' made me immediately think of Gwyndolyn! [minor spoiler for Dark Souls ahead!!!]

Dark Sun Gwyndolyn, last born child of Lord Gwyn, is the secret ruler of Anor Londo. He uses illusory magic to create a façade of a bright and shining city of the gods, when in reality it is shrouded in darkness and abandoned. This blockprint is based on the official art for Gwyndolyn by concept artist Mai HatsuyamaI. I love the character's design and his helm is one of my fave armor pieces in the game!

First time making a print where the carved portions are the design and the negative space is inked! I imagined them as bookmarks... Wasn't planning on printing them with a white border, but I ended up liking how it looks on these test prints; unfortunately, the edges aren't really straight for that purpose atm, lol. Done for the challenge, but I might fiddle with this some more later. ^_^

Went to Minneapolis for the first time this weekend~ It's such a nice change from the rural South!!!!! Moving cross country and getting settled in the dead of winter was insanely stressful, but I'm so grateful to be living close to places like this now :3 Everything cool where we used to live was at least a three hour drive away, lol.

First Drawtober prompt done! The perfect herb for a 'Witch's Garden': a mandrake root! A deadly toxic plant that can be used for medicinal or nefarious purposes. Nearly all parts of the plant can be fatal when eaten!

I styled this mandrake to have leaves and flower like the Mayapple, podophyllum peltatum, aka the American Mandrake. It has two umbrella-like leaves and a single flower. The Cherokee name for it is Uniskwetú'gi Tsundí-ga meaning "they wear a hat or they have their heads covered, small" and the Osage name CHE-SA-NE-PE-SHA means "it pains the bowels." So dangerous for such an adorable plant!

(took some artistic liberty with the roots since the mayapple isn't a taproot, but shhhhh just let him be a lil guy)

First test prints in my new little home studio :3 I'm listing these melancholic little flowers as ACEO variant editions soon! I printed them in a couple different colors as I tested which ink/paper I wanted to use. Lots of failures, lol, but a handful that turned out nice~ I'll post a reel of all the different colors soon!

As a bby printmaker, this was ambitious: carving for the first time after a LONG break + I designed something fairly detailed AND small .ᴖ. No easy warm-up carve, just jumped right into it! This block had me stresssssed, lol, but I'm so happy with how it's turned out.
