Princess H Johnson & Royal Expressions Cont Ballet
The Hair Journey !!!! Is coming to ATLANTA JAN 29th (school shows) & 30th (night show)

The Hair Journey Ballet is an original contemporary production created by Princess Howell Johnson and produced by the Royal Expressions Contemporary Ballet. It celebrates Black culture, identity, and self-love through the journey of a young girl named Zuri learning to embrace her natural hair. Zuri wants her hair straightened, but after a rainstorm turns her straightened hair back into an afro, she embarks on a dreamlike adventure through the Weave Kingdom and the Land of Locs and Fros before returning home to self-acceptance. Core Messages: Explores themes of childhood patience, self-identity, and the beauty of natural Black hair.

The youth that are in our films are inspiring other adolescents through these films. Teaching them how to use their gifts to serve others and change the narratives are so important in today’s society!! Hearing and seeing it from your peers definitely has a huge and lasting effect.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE 2 !!!
I write about what needs to be talked about. I write about real situations that I see as an educator and the neighborhoods I teach in. I pull conversations ive had with parents, some conversations with kids that dont have their parents. One conversation can change the decision that a teen makes. Show this to our youth, especially adolescents who are going to middle school, to the organizations where the youth is gathered, parents, family members, community leaders will see themselves in this film. We have to ask ourselves what can we do differently to make a change to save a life!!!
