For the past month or so leading up to the premiere of Beautiful Eunuchs, I ( Thomas Bell ) have mostly been driving the Burning Bones social media accounts. Which is why we can sneak around any deflection of our deep gratitude for Burning Bones artistic director Frankie Worster Mulinix ( Frankie Vandellous ). Yes, as Frankie will insist, we are a collaborative company blessed with many talented artists who all contribute to our creations. But Frankie is, as Sharon C. Carelock ( Sharon C. Carelock ) puts it, the “fluffy white bunny” who leads us into the “deep, dark woods.” Frankie’s singular vision lights our way through the wild forest shadows where we find our most weird and wonderful work. Frankie teaches us, leads us, supports us, and works the sorcery that brings our strangest dreams into the half-waking world for you to witness. From all of us who are drawn to and fan the flames of the , thank you for Beautiful Eunuchs. And thank you for Burning Bones.

Dance and physical theatre are such ephemeral art forms. That’s part of the appeal, but we do like to share and look back after the show is done. That’s why Burning Bones is grateful for the work of our brilliant photographer and videographer, both of whom have excellent artist’s eyes for capturing our fleeting moments on the stage. Thank you to videographer, dancer, educator, and entrepreneur Andie Knudson of Andie K. Media for filming Beautiful Eunuchs. And thank you to Scott and Donna Gibson of Donna Parlier Gibson for photographing the show. If you’ve enjoyed a photo or a clip from Beautiful Eunuchs, it’s thanks to these fine people! Have we mentioned that we’re Big Fans of Big Softie ? It has become a Burning Bones tradition to gather at Big Softie’s Summerhill location after closing night of our shows. Thank you, Big Softie, for providing us with a sweet celebration once again. And thank you too for giving all our ticket holders free sprinkles during this run! We’ll see you again after the next show... and almost certainly before then too. 😉

As our post-show gratitude continues, we want to thank ArtsATL editor Danielle Charbonneau and reporter (and artist) Princess Leia Genis for previewing Beautiful Eunuchs and profiling Burning Bones. Thank you for all the research, time, care, insight, and craft you put into presenting us to your readers. We feel very well seen indeed!

So much has to happen behind the scenes for a production like Beautiful Eunuchs to come together onstage, ready for you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. Burning Bones was blessed by the work of many talented and generous people working hard before, during, and after the show to present us beautifully and allow us to glow.

Thank you to these many people, most of whom didn’t get to take a bow, but without whom we’d have literally been dancing in the dark.

* Lighting designer Lindsey Sharpless, who has designed lights for all of Burning Bones’ shows the past several years, and, if we have our way, will stick with us for many years to come.

* Stage manager Madilyne Bagnoche🕺🏼🕺🏼 , who we have to keep reminding ourselves is still a student at KSU, because she stage manages our chaotic collective like a total seasoned pro.

* Production manager Sharon C. Carelock , who did get to take a bow after her phenomenal performance in Beautiful Eunuchs, but who was also the planner, mentor, and driving force behind all production details for the show.

* Fly on a Wall , which loaned us their lighting equipment for the show, and Fly on a Wall member Jimmy Joyner, who helped us select everything in their equipment store that we needed.

* Christian Moreno , resident carpenter, electrician, and artist at The Anchor, who helped us get the juice we needed for sound and lights without blowing out any fuses in the the building’s aging electrical system.

* Holly Stevenson , who lit up the stage in Beautiful Eunuchs, but who also recruited and coordinated all our volunteer ushers.

* Ping Taing, who started out as a volunteer usher, but then kept finding more ways to help out... and returning every day to help some more.

* Mr. V, who likes to stay out of the spotlight, but who planned and oversaw all front-of-house operations for the show.

To all of you, thank you for all you did to make Beautiful Eunuchs a success!

Dance and physical theatre are inherently IRL arts. We are bodies moving in space, and the spaces we move in join us in the dance.

That’s why we’re so grateful we were able to create Beautiful Eunuchs over many months of hard work in our studio at the ArtsXchange , a community of artists that for more than four decades has provided an incubator for Atlanta artists, thanks to the dedicated executive direction of Alice Lovelace .

And it’s why we’re so grateful that The Anchor provided such an inspiring venue to Burning Bones for this past weekend’s performances of Beautiful Eunuchs. The Anchor is an artist sanctuary created in partnership with the Georgia Avenue Church, under the visionary leadership of Helen Hale. During our week at The Anchor, we were hosted by The Anchor’s PhaeMonae Brooks , a brilliant dance maker and innovative costume designer who ensured at every step that we were well cared for, supported, and could focus on the show while she handled any complications that tried to get in our way.

We could not have brought Beautiful Eunuchs to Atlanta without these two inspiring spaces and the generous people who made it possible for us to create within them. Thank you!
