What did I plant this year?

What’s the difference between planting and burying?
It’s funny how grave digging and arbitrary
Look the same at the beginning
And are you truly a gardener if you don’t have a green thumb?
Can you say you planted without a harvest to show for it?
At least graves have markers
Unless trees become trees
They’re just bumps in the road
Or discarded in the yard
Or a barren bed next to where the sidewalk ends
And I’m not sure
Anymore
Whether I’m creating orchards or cemeteries

I Talk to God About Christians
It Feels Like What I Would Imagine It’s Like
To Talk to my Mom
About How Half my Siblings Became School Shooters
And the Other Half Said Nothing

.
I used to think I was a star
And maybe I was
Maybe that supernova combusted
And maybe my matter is scattered
And where my core was is a black hole
And on the other side of the portal
Is a universe no one can get to
Cus all my parts are frozen
And flying like missiles
They’re weapons
These fragments are asteroids
Get too close to my pull
They’ll hit you

I think some of my pieces escaped
Fell into the orbit of gas giants
Took their place as a moon of Jupiter
A speck in the rings of Saturn
Star dust entering Earth’s atmosphere
I’m just floating carbon
Heavy metal in the air
And taking too much of me in will make you sick

All my parts either became dangerous, complacent, or toxic

But I think I was a star once
And my rays beamed bright
And I fostered growth
And I brought life
And I even lit the moon at night
And I would even be out in the rain sometimes
Cus the happenings of Earth couldn’t dull my shine

Maybe I could collect myself
Pull all myself back into me
And in the loneliness of empty space
I’ll practice my alchemy
Gather these scrapes and shards
And turn back into a protostar

This video is hands down the best thing I’ve found in 2026 so far.
As I’ve been working towards become a published author, I have often struggled to understand my options and paths forward outside of self-publishing. This video gave me so much insight and has guided me in so many ways.

Link to full vid in bio.

And thanks to Alyssa for this amazing resource.
