Oh my goodness, so many leaves, so little time...
Actually, I do have enough time, and enjoy it all. Next upcoming show is Ohio Pawpaw Festival, located at beautiful Lake Snowden, close to Albany, Ohio. September 14, 15 and 16.

So what's up here? After lengthy recovery from foot surgery (and I do mean lengthy), I'll soon be able to get back into the studio. I still walk a bit like a zombie, with some roll and lurch, but I'm seeing progress. Should be able to get back into the woods when the Buckeye leaves come out. Till then I have over 6 months of accumulated mess to clean up in the studio, and the kiln porch is a holy wreck. Wish me luck.

Back in the studio today, working with gigantic spinach leaves from Cowdery farm (thanks Kim!), And geraniums from an over-wintered plant. They will take a number of days to dry before they go into the kiln.

As we move deeper into Ohio winter, not much going on at the Leaf. Tables full of boxes, tubs of clay to be reclaimed, inventory to be sorted, wood burner to be fed. This spring I will be investing in a new kiln and a slab roller (my back is looking forward to that!), plus finally fixing my wheel. I miss throwing bowls. First show of the year will be in May in Columbus - the German Village Garten Market. Looking forward to that.

Although the leaf season is drawing to a close, l will once again participate in the Athens Art Guild 2016 Holiday Shoppe. Saturday and Sunday December 10th and 11th at the Athens Community Center. It's shaping up to be a great show this year. We'll see you there! Check out these penguins on parade before going into the kiln :^)

Working hard before the end of the leaf season arrives. Today consisted of silver maple leaves and sweetgum leaves. The silver maple leaves come from a tree in my front yard planted in memory of our friend, Helen, who passed several years ago. We just call it "Helen's tree". I just noticed when I picked the leaves the other day that it is no longer a sapling - our little tree is all grown up now and is a fine shade tree. We planted a Gingko tree last week. It will have to stay caged up for several years to protect it from our herds of hungry deer.

Currently starring in a kiln near you...well, at least in my kiln. Getting ready for the Ohio Pawpaw Festival. Large bark face with pawpaw leaves, pawpaw leaf spoon rests, plus buckeye, goldenseal and pawpaw leaf faces. They'll look even better when they're glazed.
