My name is Lisa Yaconelli and I run a rehearsal performing arts space in Athens where artists can rent space for just $10/hour. I also rent out to the community for parties and events for a little higher. Usually this is enough for me to pay the bills and the rent- but this year we are a little short, plus would like to replace some broken things and get some lights. Please come and enjoy a Happy Hour with some great writers, serious and comedic, and some surprise appearances from renters of the space. A conversation is created when two movers who are also manual therapists/bodyworkers witness one another's energetic patterns. By "listening" via our hands, we help the other lean into the way each of our bodies wants to move. By witnessing one another (drawing from our experience with Authentic Movement), we each help the other unwind into new truths and understandings. A fully embodied approach to listening with our senses of touch, vision, and hearing with our hearts.

Listening in the Dark- a silent candlelight improvisational dance inspired by the audience sharing their stories of challenges and hardship and for some when they knew they were on the other side.

Julia Nyunt creates musical settings and stories spanning a variety of genres, decades, and dimensions. What remains consistent are distinctive melodies and lyrics and a remarkable voice. She will be performing with Will Shine and Grayson Hauser

Matt House and John Montarella will be performing a 10 minute comedy improvisational- grounded and hilarious you may have seen them participating with Flying Squid Comedy.

Kristen Baskin is a writer and sometimes consultant in Athens, Georgia. She likes to put interpretations of small pieces on stage. The Lora(x) is a short piece based on the Dr. Seuss book and changes the main character into a female. The Lorax was written while Dr. Seuss was grieving for his wife, Helen Palmer, who died of sadness. She wrote many books with him, wildly grew his business and after she died, was quickly replaced by Audrey Dimond. Her last letter says the following:

“See photo”

As someone who has thought of her voice as a liability to others, the book’s message spoke to Kristen about how maddening getting one’s voice stolen can be. The Lora(x) is inspired by friends and kindness.

Comedy Improv with Two

Matt House is an entertainer and writer, originally from Smiths Station, Alabama. He is co-creator of two live Athens comedy shows, The Hothouse and small talk, BIG SHOW. He frequently performs comedy with libbaloops. Ask him about his free improv class.

Originally from Columbus, Georgia, John Montarella has lived in Athens for fifteen years. He has studied improv with Flying Squid and Dad’s Garage in Atlanta, and frequently performs improv around town. He’ll be performing in his first play at Flying Squid, which opens December 6.
