📣 Dear Athenians, lend us your ears!

After two very successful summers, we would like to announce that we will be taking a hiatus for Summer 2024. 

Our signature Summer Shakespeare Festivals + Productions were a dream come true, and A LOT of hard work for our very small team-

A team that has many exciting creative opportunities coming their way in the new theatrical season. 

Thank you for supporting our presence in the community!

And keep an eye out for future endeavors as we explore new ways to bring Shakepeare to The Classic City!

TODAY IS THE DAY that we meet in the Forest of Arden.

The lovely Vivi Guerra is playing Celia. She is constantly onstage, having performed in Town & Gown’s Much Ado About Nothing and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee earlier this year. Next year, she plans to direct a mainstage production of Cyrano de Bergerac. She shares that her favorite work of Shakespeare is A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Celia and Rosalind are one of Shakespeare’s most memorable duos, so we asked Vivi what her favorite “buddy comedy” was. She replied “As Vivi, it’s either Ted or The Other Guys. But Celia’s favorite would be Tommy Boy.” Cousins don’t shake hands. Cousins gotta hug.

Only ONE DAY until we meet in the Forest of Arden. In the meantime, we want to introduce you to our merry band of players!

Ty Byers is BACK onstage with us in the roles of both Corin and H***n. You may have seen her in last year’s CCSC production of Twelfth Night in multiple roles (for Ty is a Renaissance type). Her favorite work of Shakespeare is A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In addition to acting (the RANGE!), Ty enjoys playing video games. We asked her which Shakespeare character would make the best Mortal Combat player. “Hamlet!” she responded. Alas, poor Sub-Zero.

Only ONE DAY until we meet in the Forest of Arden. In the meantime, we want to introduce you to our merry band of players!

Nina K. GuzmĂĄn is our Rosalind!

Her favorite work of Shakespeare is A Midsummer Night’s Dream; it was the first Shakespeare show she witnessed as a child. Nina’s favorite onstage role is also from childhood. As a wee one, she played “Coconut #3” in a Nativity Play when she lived in Puerto Rico.

You may have encountered another one of her talents onstage with the Athens Symphony Orchestra, where she plays the cello. When asked what advice she would give Rosalind, she simply stated “LISTEN.” We could all use that advice, especially with all of the flaws in communication within Shakespeare’s comedies.

This years event simply could not be done without K Ken Johnston and History Now.
From props, to costumes, to brilliant acting and even a Faire presence, this guy does it ALL.
Mr. Johnston offers services in consultation, living history and museum theatre/performance. This work includes on-set advisor for film/video shoots, designing and implementing hands-on living history programming, training staff, and writing, directing or performing museum theatre/first person interpretation programs. He also has multiple educational programs for all ages that meet
Georgia Standards of Excellence mandates.
