What’s next for NOVA? CONSTELLATIONS: The Light Between Us.

We’re bringing treble singers together for another project built around what we love most: making great music with great people.

Constellations explores the connections between us, the ways we shape one another, and what becomes possible when we come together to sing. We’ll explore a wide range of music in a focused rehearsal process that makes room for both musical growth and the realities of busy lives.

One of the things that makes NOVA different is our short-term, project-based commitment. You can take part in an ambitious musical experience without signing on for a year-long season.

Interested in singing with us? Learn more about Constellations, including rehearsal and performance details, through the link below.

And please share this with other treble singers who might be looking for their next musical adventure!

RESCHEDULED!

Our performance of Fire Flowers: Hope and the Resilience of the Human Spirit has a new date!

Join us Sunday, October 25th, at 3:00 p.m. at Congregation Children of Israel in Athens.

The program features Linda Tutas Haugen’s Anne Frank: A Living Voice, a moving work exploring fear, grief, love, and hope.

Admission is free, with an opportunity to support The RISE Fund, which provides emergency relief to Georgia’s immigrant families.

We look forward to sharing this music with you!

NOVA singers: Please check your email for a message from Jennifer with an update!

After serious consideration, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule tomorrow evening’s performance of Fire Flowers at Congregation Children of Israel. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the anticipated weather.

We are working with the Athena Quartet and Congregation Children of Israel to find a new date later this month. We’ll share the updated details here as soon as plans are finalized.

In the meantime, please stay safe and dry! If you’d like to catch some choral music before the rain arrives, the Hodgson Singers perform tonight at 7:30 p.m. at UGA’s Performing Arts Center!

Classic City Band, we have our fingers crossed that Sunday will be clear!

For our October 10th performance of "Fire Flowers: Hope and the Resilience of the Human Spirit," we are proud to highlight The RISE Fund, an organization providing emergency relief to Georgia’s immigrant families.

When immigration enforcement suddenly disrupts a family’s income, The RISE Fund steps in with rent, utilities, grocery vouchers, and other essentials. Their goal is simple: give families the breathing room they need to get through those first difficult months without losing their home, their utilities, or access to food.
At the concert, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about their work, support their mission, and find out how you can volunteer.

The concert is free, and everyone is welcome!

Saturday, October 10th at 7:00 p.m.
Congregation Children of Israel
115 Dudley Drive, Athens

🎶 Treble Chorus Tuesday! 🎶

This week, we’re celebrating the Orange County Women’s Chorus, under the artistic leadership of Eliza Rubenstein since 2000.

What began as a small group of women who simply wanted to sing together has grown into one of the region’s leading treble choruses, with performances across the U.S. and abroad, including a 2022 Carnegie Hall debut. We especially love OCWC’s commitment to new music, commissioning, and creating opportunities for women in choral leadership through their conducting internship program.

NOVA Artistic Director Jennifer Kane has admired OCWC’s spirit and programming for YEARS! If you’re a choral director or treble-chorus enthusiast, their website is full of wonderful programming inspiration AND information! Check out this joyful performance of J. David Moore's arrangement of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" - an arrangement NOVA will be singing in our next project, Constellations!

NOVA Women’s Choral Collective began a new chapter here in Athens earlier this spring, and we have already done a lot.

In just a few months, we have:
• Brought together more than 35 treble singers from Athens and across Northeast Georgia
• Presented "Fire Flowers: Hope and the Resilience of the Human Spirit," featuring Linda Tutas Haugen’s Anne Frank: A Living Voice and the Athena Quartet
• Created opportunities for singers to take on challenging repertoire through a flexible, project-based model
• Built connections with local artists and organizations
• Offered free concerts, so cost is not a barrier to experiencing this music

And we are just getting started!

We’ll perform "Fire Flowers" again on Saturday, October 10th, at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation Children of Israel. Admission is free, with optional donations benefiting The Rise Fund, which provides emergency relief to Georgia’s immigrant families.

If you believe Athens and Northeast Georgia need more opportunities for ambitious, meaningful choral music, please consider supporting NOVA. Your donation helps us purchase music, pay musicians, bring in collaborators, keep concerts accessible, and build our next project.

NOVA is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, and all donations are processed through our fiscal sponsor at the link below.

We have a lot more music to make!

Missed it? You have another chance! We’ll perform the program again on Saturday, October 10th, at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation Children of Israel in Athens.
