This is one of the food trucks that has been with us the last two years. This is such a wonderful gesture the Harbin family is doing today for the community.
This morning, I pulled into the Rogersville Foodland parking lot.
A small food truck.
A line already forming.
And a family doing something that looks a whole lot like love.
Andrew Harbin was inside the business babysitting, something he says he loved to do. His parents, Steve and Karen, and wife, Taylor, were already serving customers from the food truck. The kind of family effort you don’t have to explain, you can feel it.
Today is Pork Belly BBQ’s “Gives Back” event.
And before the clock even hit 11, they had already handed out more than 20 meals.
No questions asked.
No forms.
No judgment.
Just a plate of warm food placed into the hands of a neighbor.
They’ve prepared 500 meals.
Five hundred.
For anyone who needs one.
Pulled pork, pulled chicken, sides, bread, drinks, all given freely, because the Harbins believe that if you’ve been supported by your community, you turn around and support right back.
Standing there watching this operation unfold, you understand something:
This isn’t about barbecue.
This is about dignity.
About kindness.
About remembering the folks who too often fall through the cracks.
If you’re in Rogersville today and could use a meal or if you know someone who could, they’ll be there until 3p or until the food is gone.
Five hundred plates.
Five hundred reminders that community still matters.
Thanks to the Harbin family for showing what giving looks like.
