Grateful to have been included in my Alma mater’s Georgia Magazine article on our undergrad Scientific Illustration program! UGA has a great program, run back in my day by the one and only Gene Wright and now under the very talented Amanda Manowski.

These leafbugs were created for Royce Cu***ng who’s working to catalog a ton of new leafbug species, and has been a joy to work with for many years. Flattered to also have some of my undergrad work selected for the cover design as well.

Thank you Leigh Hataway for excellent reporting, and I’m still cracking up at my quote about photographing bugs 😂🪲

I’m so grateful for my professional growth this year. In 2023 I had the opportunity to:

- Illustrate a cover for Science Advances 🔬
- Work with amazing clients to design reports, infographics, and diagrams ☀️
- Present on scientific illustration at the ESA conference 🪳
- Travel and see amazing art and natural history museums in the US and Europe 🐘
- Work with USGS climate researchers 🐟
- Have my work selected for exhibits and published in journals 🐍

Being a freelance artist is challenging but I’m really excited to see my hard work starting to pay off. Cheers to 2024!

Excited to share the infographic and original illustrations I created for USGS freshwater fish biologist Bonnie J Myers, visualizing her dissertation research on native and non-native freshwater fish species in Puerto Rico.

In November I had the opportunity to present at the Entomological Society of America's 2023 conference in National Harbor, MD.

You can watch my presentation on the utility of scientific illustration when reconstructing extinct species below or on my website under Case Studies.

A special thank you to the Montreal Insectarium, as well as entomologists Royce Cu***ng, Stéphane Le Tirant, and Hemen Sendi.

I'm a month late, but my illustration is on the cover of AAAS Science Advances! I really enjoyed working with Anna Nemudraia and Artem Nemudryi to create this visual of their research.

Description of the cover and their research: “A thread spools out from a yarn ball, representing a genome of an RNA virus. The thread is cut, and another thread is inserted. Nemudryi and Nemudraia et al. introduce a new concept for RNA manipulation through cleavage and repair. This work establishes a recombinant RNA technology that can rapidly engineer RNA viruses for applications in antiviral therapeutics, vaccine design, and screening mutations for phenotypes.”
