Posting for a friend! I will probably be casting the full production later this spring so this show definitely has a future. But, for now, this is just a casual reading that the writer/director is producing.

New original musical about 2 rival college baseball players who fall in love over a competitive season. looking for a few good actors mid 20s to read first draft of script super informally… No music just the libretto.

Seeking: Ryan: 19, witty and shy. He is find out what he wants and creating a life for himself beyond Iowa. (Any ethnicity)

Wes: 19, brash, confident and bold. The star pitcher with a heart of gold but who doesn’t realize it yet (poc preferred)

Junie: 19, too cool for school, intelligent, just out of a romcom like romance and trying something different with the guys.

Evan: 20, awkward and obsessed with being the team manager. He goes overboard on the field when he doesn’t like a play. Finds Junie perfect.

Professor Dorr: 40s, marine biology professor stuck in the Midwest. Gives Ryan a great opportunity to get unstuck.

Various other baseball players and students.

Ideally looking to read the script in midtown this weekend pending availability. But, open to this coming week.

$50 for 2-3 hours

She is hopeful, lost, apologetic, old, young, defiant, empathetic, tragic stricken, a woman, a widow, the mother of Elizabeth, and the Grandmother of Tracy. Her character looks timid and vulnerable but her mindful-intentions, emotionally-expressive face, and nuanced vocal inflections throughout her character-arc action her as she discovers herself as an independent woman empowered by her own logic, reason, and will. Preferring an actress on the shorter side.

[FATHER MITCHELL]30 to 40 years old, white male. A husky bearded Millennial (30-40) Catholic Priest. He is polite, condescending, authoritative, disgusted, self-important, compassionate, and a man with inflections of pertinent judgmental-intent. His character-arc starts charismatic, respectful, and even compassionate with a subtle (almost unnoticeable) Kentucky accent, but over the course of the scene he becomes impatiently-steadfast in his stern role as priest for the Bible, the Catholic faith, and his father, who’s natural Kentucky accent is plain and raw in the last lines of the script. Preferring an actor on the taller side.

STORYLINE:A desperate Grandmother turns to her Priest for guidance regarding her Q***r Grandchild, which results from a choice between life and death.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that I will doing an industry lecture and Q & A on Tuesday at 2 PM CT through Actors Connection as part of their "Free at Three" series. In addition to answering questions from attendees, I will be discussing the current state of the theatre, film, and television business.
Other recent guests have included Marci Phillips (Executive Director of Casting for ABC) and Jack Bowdan (Casting Director for the film adaptations of Chicago and Dreamgirls).
The last time that I did one of these I had dozens of people 'zoom' in from all over the world. Thus, it would be wonderful to see some familiar faces in the 'audience.'
