My recent article below highlights the awards ceremony 🏆 held at the Irish Rep Theatre ( ) for the 17th annual 1st Irish Origin Theatre Festival ☘️. Congratulations to my friend, John McDonagh ( ) who won the Bairbre Dowling Spirit of the Festival Award🎖 for "A Cop, A Cabbie, A Crusader". He graciously accepted it with Brendan Fay ( ) and Al Gonzales ( ). It was a wonderful night. Brenda Meaney ( ) from the play "Irishtown" and Michael “Mick” Mellamphy- Artistic Director of the Origin Theatre Company presented John's award ( ). You may recall our flat tire blowout we had on the way to NYC that night, which I posted on Instagram. Please share it if you have a moment. Fun fact- My article is NOT written using AI. Thanks for your support!😘

My article was just published in the Queens Gazette Newspaper, online copy.🤓 Enjoy! Share & tag me please, if you want. I helped hold the banner for the fabulous Lavender and Green Alliance LGBTQ+ Group, their motto is, "Cherishing all the children of the nation equally". My article is about the openly gay Mayor of Belfast, Northern Ireland visiting us in Sunnyside, Queens last week as the Grand Marshal of the St. Pat's For All parade in its 26th year. The NY parade was started by my friend activist/filmmaker/writer, Brendan Fay. What a perfect time to march and remind everyone of DEI - Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity. A way of living life encouraging Belonging, Justice, and Accessibility- concepts that were around way before DEI became political. Grateful to have marched to support my friends and family; even though I was freezing my ass off, my heart was very warm. 💜💚
LORD MAYOR OF BELFAST WALKS WITH LAVENDER AND GREEN ALLIANCE - Queens Gazette

On the first Sunday of March, come rain or shine (or below freezing), for 26 years, the annual St. Pat’s For All parade marches from 43rd Street up Skillman Avenue in Sunnyside to 58th Street in Woodside, carrying with it love, acceptance, strength and inclusivity. The theme of the parade is “Ch...

Here is the link at the bottom to read my article published today! It is a narrative journalism piece in the Queens Gazette. It was tough to write this nostalgic tribute to Neptune Diner closing this Sunday 7/28/24. I hope you can take a moment to read, share, and walk down memory lane with me. One day in the future there will potentially be a highrise there. Special thanks to everyone who helped contribute to my article: Anthony Cardillo (photography) , Antoinette Bibis (art work on wall at Neptune), Dito Montiel (quote), Kim Parshley (quote), Tony Barsamian (publisher), and a few friends and employees at the diner who wish to remain anonymous. Now, go there and enjoy your last cup of coffee or icecream soda!🤓

"Bon Voyage, Neptune Diner" by Jill Parshley-Cardillo- Queens Gazette

Early one brisk morning, in the autumn of 1980, my father took me for a short jog on the Triborough Bridge’s path overlooking the East River. From the center, we gazed over crimson cadmium leaves blanketing the trees in Astoria Park. The sky was coral, cobalt and enormous; you could see forever. A...

Hi all- check out my article published today in the Queens Gazette! Click on link below to read. Auditions for this talented choir are coming up next week, so is their Spring Concert which will include one of my favorite songs- they're performing, "What a Wonderful World".

The Oratorio Society of Queens (OSQ) will be holding auditions on Monday, January 22, 7:00 pm, at Temple Beth Sholom in Flushing. OSQ is a community chorus whose doors are open to everyone who wants to share in the joy and congeniality of singing choral masterworks. To schedule an appointment to...

The Secret to Finding Santa The year my father died, it was finally revealed to me that there was no Santa Claus. Daddy was the bandit behind the missing homemade chocolate chip cookies and the gooey crumbs purposely left on the plate. Our dad was the one who made it appear as if the milk was comple...
