Astoria Arts and Movement Center

Astoria Arts and Movement Center The AAMC’s mission is to offer dance, performing arts and physical education classes that enhance, inspire & embrace the community

The AAMC was formed out of a direct need for a diverse dance, performing arts, and physical education studio that served ALL ages and offered a wide range of classes, recreational activities and specialty workshops open to the community on the North Coast. Our Students
The AAMC extends ALL of its classes to every age, ability, gender, ethnicity, race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation,

economic class, and interest. Our students have ranged in ages from 6 to 71 and are from very diverse backgrounds. We partner with institutions and organizations such as Warrenton High School, Astoria High School, The Harbor, the Lower Columbia Hispanic Council, the Senior Center, Clatsop Community College, Columbia Memorial Health, the Lower Columbia Q Center, CASA, KMUN, and Clatsop Behavioral Health in an attempt to include individuals that may not consistently have access to arts and movement classes. Our Instructors
All AAMC instructors are certified professionals passionate about teaching their craft. Each and every one is dedicated to their personal practice while committed to providing quality education and training to the community. Our instructors are continually inspired by their students, learning as much from them as they do from us. Our Challenge
In order to operate and keep classes affordable ($5 to $10 per class) the AAMC relies on grant funding, donations and fundraising. We are a 502(c)3 non-profit organization (EIN 47 -2409238)

We KNOW there is a need for dance, performing art, physical education and recreational activities on the North Coast and we take this to heart. The AAMC seeks to meet this essential need, as it is our main objective that everyone has access to these vital things that strengthen us on both an individual and communal level. Our Gratitude
On behalf of our instructors, our students, volunteers, and those who believe in the AAMC, I wish to thank all of our suporters. Your time, efforts and generosity makes it possible for the AAMC to continue to both inspire and serve the local community, endeavors we take directly to heart.

Hello! Belly dance fusion will be postponed tonight until next Tuesday. As everyone who's been in my class knows my daughter was expecting to have her baby last weekend and beautiful healthy baby Clara was born Saturday! She was finally released from the hospital today so we'll be getting settled in at home tonight.
But be ready for some fun new moves next week!
Miss you all!

To our beloved community! We’ve been a bit quiet about updates because, well, there haven’t been too many so far…the reconstruction of the ballroom and mezzanine has moved much slower than any of us hoped. For this, we are deeply sorry. We know the AAMC is, for so many of you, a place of gathering, healing, learning, health, celebration, expression, motivation, and family.
Please know that we are still here, we are still with you, and we are still doing everything we can to remain devoted stewards of our home while the ballroom enters this next phase of rebirth. We are closer to that each day, and we anticipate the ballroom’s restoration will begin in the next couple of weeks and continuing through the summer, with a much-anticipated reopening in the fall (and likely earlier for the mezzanine).
Although the ballroom remains wounded, she is resting- her four walls breathing after a century of weathering. Her restoration and reopening will be glorious (and yes, we will PARTYYYY), and we pray you will return when she has healed. Until then please continue to support instructors teaching in other locations as well as our neighbors at Ten Fifteen Productions and Sea Gypsy Gifts. Please hold the ballroom in your heart- we know she will feel it and so will we.
And Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈

Hello friends and neighbors, Megan A Rose here !
One final reminder to reach out to me if you would like to join the WhatsApp text group to receive notifications for outdoor summer pop up yoga. Starting in June, I will be taking the summer off social media so you won't see notifications here. I will also send a weekly text reminder about the Friday 3:30-4:30 donation based class at Fire Station since there will be a few Fridays we won't have class.
Email me at [email protected] to get connected

If you don't hear from me, try again. I'm generally very fast at getting back to folks.

Hello neighbors & happy May !
Megan A Rose here !

I'll be hosting a donation-based yoga class at Fire Station Yoga studio for the summer while our dear and precious AAMC studio continues its rehab.

I'll honor punch cards for those of you who have them and once the studio reopens I'll add back our Sunday morning so it's possible we might have two Ashtanga based classes per week depending on timing. So excited to get back to practicing with you.

See you next Friday 🌼
