We are very proud to be hosting the Portland Ecofilm Festival best of the fest this weekend! As the festival hits the road with curated selections. This is a rare opportunity for our small town and we are happy to be selected alongside other great independent cinemas in the Pacific NW!

Friday June 12 will feature David Bim’s immersive documentary about a family’s love and struggle in the Cuban wilderness, TO THE WEST, IN ZAPATA. Doors 6:30, Film at 7:00 $7.

Saturday June 13 will feature a program of new ecological short films from around the living world, including the winners of Portland Ecofilm fest curation community’s Best Short Film and Best Conservation Film. Doors 6:30, Films at 7:00 $7

Sunday June 14 will feature the winner of the Ecofilm Fest curation community’s 2026 Best Feature Film Award, Germinal Roaux’s beautiful tale of healing connection across cultures, COSMOS.

That’s Right! Goonies time is coming up fast! Astoria’s vintage theater will be once again showing this classic hit that’s captured generations of fans! As always tickets are sold at the door with the box office opening 30 minutes before each show($5 adult, $2 kids). Alcoholic and THC beverages available from our balcony bar (yes they can go downstairs), great pizza available, and our selection of treats including the best popcorn around, all at reasonable prices! You don’t want to miss this 80’s experience!

The Holy Mountain plays Friday May 22 in a one night only special event in collaboration with Ft. George Brewing and Holy Mountain Brewing! The early 70’s were perhaps the most experimental period in cinema, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain stands out as an excellent example of the avant-garde filmmaking of the era. In June we will be hosting the Portland Ecofilm festival best-in-fest. Part of the excitement is a rare educational opportunity with the Multnomah Clemente course. As part of the festival we will be holding a free course exploring the intersection of ecology with cinema, art, and literature. A chance to study something fun and earn a transferable college credit from Bard College! Visit www.portlandecofilmfest.org to get more information and register. Rozzell Medina, who is leading the course, will be in-house at the Columbian May 23 to answer questions and register participants!
