Assaria, Kansas is a thriving rural community that supports agriculture. We are working hard to renovate our city park with new equipment, including a set of Freenotes Harmony Park instruments. Harmony Park instruments appeal to all ages and abilities. We believe these outdoor musical instruments will provide a unique, interactive feature to help bring our park to life! Can you remember the thrill you got in grade school when you hit that mallet on the xylophone for the first time? Funds raised through our WeKan!Support online campaign will purchase a set of 5 Tuned Drums; the Yantzee, a xylophone-like instrument; and the Swirl. We hope the addition of these instruments will inspire not only joyful play but a love of music while enhancing the park experience. Additional park plans include farm-themed play equipment, age-appropriate toddler equipment and swings, as well as a half-mile walking trail encircling the park. Current play equipment at our park is hand-me-down slides, jungle gym, bouncers and swings that are more than 30 years old. In addition, our park currently has a regulation softball field, concrete basketball court, shelter with tables and restroom facilities. Being a rural community with a consolidated school located 8 miles away limits the dual use of the school's facilities for daily use.
