🐝A note from our director, Lawrence Lee:

"I'm very excited for you to come see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Chequamegon Theatre Association!
This is an extraordinary cast and crew of people who have created a beautiful world for you to enter and explore.

People often ask me when I'm doing a play "Will it be recorded?" and I always tell them, "No," even if it is. Why? Because a recording is not how theater is meant to be experienced. It is an immersive experience. And this play could not be contained on a screen.

First of all, the whole space is our stage. The action happens all around you, not just safely confined behind the proscenium.

Second, because this is a show that has no fourth wall. The characters are all very aware of the presence of the audience and they talk directly to the audience all of the time.

Third, some audience members actually get in the act and become spellers on stage. Try to do that with your screen!

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious and heartfelt musical comedy that follows six quirky middle schoolers competing for spelling glory.

Presided over by former champion Rona Lisa Peretti and an eccentric panel of adults, the bee quickly becomes anything but ordinary.
