I’m sitting here thinking about how CRAZY busy October is—we’re hosting TWO huge events and participating in several others! 😅 Then it hit me… next October could be even crazier!

October is National Roller Skating Month, and next year we plan to celebrate with The Rollercade OPEN and everyone rolling with us! 🤩🛼

I’m sorry we’ve been a little quiet this past week or so, but things are still moving forward! We’re waiting on permit approval, which we’re expecting at the end of this month. If everything comes through as hoped, November will be HAMMER TIME as we tackle the remaining renovations! 🔨💪

We’re still looking for ONE more lender for a loan of approximately $30,000. This would be a loan we repay with interest—not free money or a donation. 😝 We’re happy to sit down and discuss rates, repayment terms, and our plan to get this project across the finish line!

The Move Over Law Awareness Event & Fundraiser is a FREE community event at the new Mifflin Community Volunteer Fire Station in the village of Mifflin, honoring and supporting roadside workers and remembering lives lost on our roadways.

Come enjoy the community activities, an optional hog roast meal, and some AMAZZZZING auction items! All fundraiser proceeds will benefit the nonprofit ATSS Foundation. Look them up—they’re such a wonderful organization, and we’re honored to help make this event possible in support of their work. 🧡

I think I finally figured out why so many of us Gen Xers are nostalgic as hell.

It's not because everything was better...it wasn't. And good Lord, we weren't exactly angels.

We lied about where we were going. Rode around in cars with people our parents absolutely did not know. Stayed out way too late. Made some decisions that probably should have killed us and somehow just became funny stories.

But dang...everything felt simpler.

I would give anything to take my kids for a couple laps around the roller rink on a Friday night. Because if you know, YOU KNOW.

Getting asked to couple skate? HUGE.

But being able to BACK SKATE? Please. You basically owned the building. I'm still salty that my parents never bought me the COVETED white roller skates with the pink stoppers. Nope...Greg & Nanette made me rent those ugly brown ones.

The roller rink...the mall...the arcade...the movie theater.
And you can't forget about Pizza Hut after a game where your entire team took over six tables and your parents sat somewhere else.

We didn't need reservations and nobody sent a group text with 47 messages trying to figure out where everyone was meeting...you just showed up.

We called our friends on a phone attached to the kitchen wall. And if their dad answered? Lawd, hang up...try again in ten minutes.

We rode our bikes to somebody's house and threw them in the front yard because seeing six bikes laying in the grass was basically the original Find My Friends.

We knew where everybody was.

We made mixtapes that took HOURS because you had to sit next to the radio waiting for the damn song and pray the DJ didn't talk over the beginning.

We walked around the mall for three hours with $11. Bought absolutely nothing and it was the best day ever.

I miss how absolutely uncomplicated fun was.
We didn't need much.

I was just telling my kids that all we needed was a roller rink, a friend's basement, a radio, a bike, a mall...and a Friday night.
That was enough.

And maybe that's why I'm craving nostalgia so much lately...because the world feels really freaking heavy right now.

Everything feels loud, angry, divided and urgent.
Sometimes I don't want another breaking-news alert.
I don't want another argument or another horrible story to cover.

Sometimes I just want to remember what it felt like when the biggest thing happening on a Friday night was whether somebody was going to ask you to couple skate.

I don't want to go backward...but God, I'd visit.
Give me one Friday night.
My friends are waiting...I've got $10 in my pocket and New Edition just came over the speakers.

And for a few hours, the world doesn't feel quite so heavy.

Thank you for the awesome hook up Brad!! And Anthony deserves a raise- he busted his butt helping me with all 150 pairs I bought PLUS the ones we sorted through 😅 I was there for 3 hours! And sending someone back for the 13 remaining boxes tomorrow! But it was soooo worth it! To say WE HAVE ALL THE SKATES is such an awesome feeling. Another step closer. 🫶🏻God is good, all the time 🙏
