CAT began in 1964 as a local community theatre that reflected the community it served. Over the years, as that community changed and grew, CAT has also changed and grown. CAT is now a professional theatre with deep roots in our Greater Richmond community from which we continue to draw our talent and our strength. Each show, we have new talent join us to work beside and to learn from seasoned talen

Meet the Cast: Jacqueline Jones as Alma

Jacqueline Jones returns to CAT as Alma in Hollywood, Nebraska. Jackie specializes in solo portrayals, including Ann Richards in Ann at Firehouse Theatre, Golda Meir in Golda’s Balcony with TheatreLAB and Jewish Family Theatre, and roles in Season’s Greetings, The New Century, and Mrs. Sorken. She recently appeared in the new works WitchDuck and Safety, the Musical at Firehouse.

Her many projects include Virginia Rep’s Hugs and Kisses, Songs from Bedlam, and Firehouse’s Birth. Her screen work includes appearing with Rainn Wilson in Permanent, along with The Day Lincoln Was Shot and Hello, Mother; Hello, Daughter. She has also served as Virginia Lottery spokesperson Marge Cranberry.

Jackie last appeared with CAT in Painting Churches. Her CAT credits also include her Tabby Award-winning performance as Cecily in Quartet, Tabby-nominated Vernadette in The Dixie Swim Club, Kate in All My Sons, and Helene in Alone Together.

Beyond the stage, Jackie role-plays for organizations including VCU, Randolph Macon, Bon Secours Schools of Medicine, the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice, Lifenet, Justice 3D, and Federal Crisis/Hostage Negotiation. Next, she’ll appear in Remember the Ladies, a gender-reversed production of St. John’s Church Foundation’s Liberty or Death reenactment.

Sophia Stephens is ecstatic to make her Richmond theatre debut with CAT in Hollywood, Nebraska! Her previous performance credits include Lost Girl (Mother), Firebringer (Schwoopsie), Clue: On Stage (Professor Plum), and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Mrs. Dodds). Her directing credits include The Wolves, The Solve It Squad, and She Kills Monsters.

Earlier this year, Sophia graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. in Physics and Theatre Arts. She sends all her love to her family, pals, Stony Brook family, and those scattered to the winds for their endless support. She has had an absolute blast with this company and team in small-town Nebraska and thanks everyone for supporting live theatre!

Billy Heckman proudly makes his CAT debut as Lance in Hollywood, Nebraska. His Richmond theatre credits include Altar Boyz (Abraham) with Swift Creek Mill Theatre, Hairspray (Link) with Homefront Players, Torch Song (Alan/David U/S) with Richmond Triangle Players, Annie (Ensemble) with Cadence Theatre, and The Great Gatsby (Ensemble) with Quill Theatre.

His screen credits include Swagger on Apple TV+ and The Walking Dead: World Beyond on AMC. Billy also plays the composite character Cook in Lionheart Filmworks’ upcoming 2027 Civil War feature film adaptation of The Red Badge of Courage.

Billy holds a BA in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University and works at VCU Health’s Center for Human Simulation and Patient Safety, using acting to help educate medical students and improve the understanding of patient care. He sends his love to his family and friends for their everlasting support.

And one important clarification from Billy: He is not related to Matt Hackman. Double check those last names!

Richmond-based actor Emma Mason returns to CAT, where previous credits include Rose in Enchanted April, Jessica in The 13th of Paris, Ann Deever in All My Sons, and Audrey in Leading Ladies.

Around Richmond, Emma has performed with Richmond Shakespeare in Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Richmond Triangle Players in The Beebo Brinker Chronicles and Last Summer at Bluefish Cove; TheatreLAB in See Jane Quit; Cadence Theatre Company in The Pillowman; Henrico Theatre Company in The Mousetrap; and Henley Street Theatre in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead.

At Swift Creek Mill Theatre, her credits include There Goes the Bride, The Diary of Anne Frank, Run for Your Wife, and Almost, Maine. Emma is delighted to be part of Hollywood, Nebraska and grateful to share this production with the Richmond theatre community.

Jennipher Murphy returns to the CAT stage after appearing in Dinner with Friends as Beth, The Lifespan of a Fact as Emily, and Meteor Shower as Corky. Her other performance credits include 1984 (Julia), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Storyteller), Juliet Among the Changelings (Lavinia), and Rabbit Hole (Becca).

Jennipher has also performed with Richmond Catholic Theatre’s school tour of Hamlet and participated in the 48-Hour Film Project with Grandma’s Dead, Diane’s Delivery, and Null. Behind the scenes, she has stage managed CAT’s Painting Churches and Proof, Richmond Triangle Players’ How Black Mothers Say I Love You, and Richmond Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Matt Hackman is excited to return to CAT and the Hanover Tavern stage after many years. His previous CAT credits include *Now Then Again, The Nerd, Harvey, Leading Ladies, Enchanted April, The Sisters Rosensweig, Epic Proportions,* and *Something’s Afoot*.

His many Richmond-area credits include work with Swift Creek Mill in *Night Must Fall, There Goes The Bride, Run for Your Wife, Love/Sick, Almost Maine, The Woman in Black,* and *The Little Lion*; Richmond Shakespeare in *Uncle Vanya, Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Servant of Two Masters, Troilus and Cressida,* and *Titus Andronicus*; as well as productions with 5th Wall Theatre, Cadence Theatre Company, Sycamore Rouge, K Dance, Richmond Triangle Players, Firehouse Theatre, and Virginia Rep.
