THIS MESSAGE JUST IN — from Buddy Lee Martin, the respected son of the ALL TIME UNDISPUTED KING OF BLUEGRASS JIMMY MARTIN! 🎶

Buddy Lee is personally escorting Jimmy Martin's original 1941 Martin D-28 guitar down to Bluegrass Revival Festival in Ashford! — It is officially recognized as an iconic piece of bluegrass history, often cited as one of the primary reasons modern artists like Trey Hensley began playing. Known for its powerful "punch" and historical significance, the guitar is a staple of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum —- and is traveling to this year’s Bluegrass Revival Festival in Ashford for an interactive experience. This may be a once in a lifetime chance for festival guests and performers to get to hear and see a unique piece of musical history!

The Free Friday Jam starts Friday, March 20th at 5:30 pm central.

Gates open to BLUEGRASS REVIVAL FESTIVAL on Saturday, March 21st, at 11:00 am central!

BLUEGRASS REVIVAL FESTIVAL

Amateur Freestyle Clogging Dance Competition

The Bluegrass Revival Festival proudly presents an Amateur Freestyle Clogging Dance Competition, celebrating traditional Appalachian dance set to live bluegrass music.

Eligibility & Entry

• Open to amateur dancers

• No competition entry fee

• A valid Bluegrass Revival Festival Pass is required for participation (with the exception of children ages 12 and under.)

Registration

• Participants must register in person at the Festival Registration Table

• Each dancer will be issued an official competition number

Competition Format

• The competition will take place in scheduled dance segments throughout the festival

• Select festival bands will perform designated dance numbers

• Registered competitors will dance as a group during each selected performance

• A panel of judges will evaluate dancers during each round

Advancement

• After each round, judges will select competitors to advance to the next round

• Rounds will continue until the field is narrowed to five finalists

• Finalists will compete for placement in the final round

Awards

• 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place winners will be announced

• Trophies 🏆 and prizes will be awarded to top finishersn

COMING TO BLUEGRASS REVIVAL!

HDS is honored to make the following announcement —

Bill Monroe was undeniably named The Father of Bluegrass Music. His coworker in using his unique ability to build the art was Jimmy Martin, who was indisputably named The King of Bluegrass Music.

Historic Dupree School is honored to announce that due to the graciousness of the Jimmy Martin Family and Estate, as well as the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, Jimmy Martin’s custom iconic 1941 D-28 Martin guitar which played such a vital role in Jimmy’s unique sound, style, and music, will be traveling to play a central role in this year’s BLUEGRASS REVIVAL FESTIVAL!! This historic instrument which was was picked on the Opry stage countless times will be personally escorted by Jimmy’s beloved son Buddy Lee Martin who will make it available for everyone to experience. Buddy will also be available to answer questions and tell some amazing stories about his father and his father’s guitar. Certain artists will also be allowed to play this musical piece of Americana and some of our BLUEGRASS REVIVAL performers will be authorized to perform with it onstage for the entire audience to experience!
