| The People Who Show Up |
I’ll be honest — this past week tested me.
My book release party is this Sunday, Nov 2nd at Ben’s Tune-Up in downtown Asheville (5–7:30PM). It’s a dream come true — a free venue in the heart of the city that represents creativity, community, and everything I stand for.
But a few days ago, I had a quiet, heavy moment.
I realized that, aside from myself, only two other people had confirmed they were coming.
And my heart sank.
I felt embarrassed. I felt small. I felt like maybe I wasn’t as important as I hoped this moment would make me feel.
For a second, I thought about canceling the whole thing.
But I’m learning something about God and growth:
Sometimes the real test isn’t how many people clap for you — it’s whether you can still clap for yourself when no one else does.
So I prayed. I reflected. I shifted.
The purpose of this celebration isn’t about numbers.
It’s not about how full the room is — it’s about how full my heart is.
My book, From A Nobody To The SOMEBODY, was born out of pain, perseverance, and purpose.
I wrote it while living in my car, with nothing to my name but faith and a notebook.
Now, to stand here as a published author, with a book that’s already touched lives before its official launch — that’s worth celebrating.
You don’t need a crowd to validate your progress.
You just need the right people — the ones who show up because they believe in you.
Whether it’s two people, twenty, or two hundred, I’ll be surrounded by those who genuinely want to see me win. And that’s enough.
So no, I’m not canceling. I’m celebrating.
Here’s to showing up — for ourselves, for our purpose, and for the people who show up for us.
See you Sunday 🫶🏾
