So cool and an honor to share my work on this project!

Our newest book, Mary Ardery’s ✨Level Watch✨, really came together last spring when we discovered the gorgeous watercolor work of Asheville-based artist Bronwen McCormick of and this painting of the Blue Ridge landscape in particular. On the cover, it’s overlaid with a century-old USGS topographic map of the region in North Carolina where the book is set, with a strip of burnt paper to echo and alter the rhythm of the mountains in the distance (we design all our books in-house, inside and out). The colors, the mood, the light—isn’t this piece perfect? All of Bronwen’s art is as transporting and beautiful; we highly recommend checking it out at bentcreekwatercolor.com. 🖼️

We’ve hit that moment as summer fades into fall when the colors shift. The greens go to gold and rust and it may well be the most beautiful time of year in our mountains.
