I am so grateful for all the wonderful folks asking how they can help us as we finally work toward getting into our new studio space - the upfits are happening quickly and smoothly, but because production has to slow or pause while we attend all the moving and upfitting, the costs are quickly out running the resources on hand.

So to answer the question: if you would like to donate to our fundraiser or share the link, you’ll find it at the top of our Linktree (link in bio). The page on our website has a direct link to our GoFundMe, and information on how to make tax-deductible donations.

If you’d like to physically help, I’m gathering helpers for phase 2 of moving things out of temporary locations, which will take place July 1 at 8am (I know, ew!). If you’d like to join that crew, DM or text me!

And as always and forever, thank you for your support! 🙏❤️🙏❤️

Just wanted to put out another big thank you to all the wonderful words of support since announcing I have a new studio, and put out a call for a bit of manual labor.

Over the past year plus, when I've thought I was this/close to signing a lease on other spaces, I've had several offers of help in the moving process. I've used wonderful movers to get the really big things moved, but because the remaining studio items are stored across three different locations it's not as affordable or practical to use movers again. So, I'm calling on those kind souls who offered moving help to let me know if that offer still stands! Compensation will come in the form of extreme gratitude and love, first glimpses of the new space, copious amounts of coffee/tea/water/beverage of your choice and a hearty meal. And for any who desire, of course (and always), pottery.

As I've been working across three different spaces, there will be phased moves of remaining studio items, beginning July 1 when I plan to move what is still in my garage. This will be an early morning (8am) call because my lovely housemate is also moving that day and will begin at 10am. Everything is organized in the garage and will just need a coordinated effort to load ready vehicles, so I'm hoping 2-3 fine folk with a truck or roomy SUV will do the trick.

The following week I'll be moving my wheel, some tables, and tools/materials from my spot at The Village Potters. Again 1-2 vehicles should do it. We won't move out of our temporary 'piggery' until we have our kilns tested, so production won't have any interruptions, so that's not being scheduled yet.

SO! If you and your vehicle and strong arms are available July 1 and/or a day the following week, please remind me of your generosity and we'll make a plan!

Thank you so much!

Upfit Update #2

Hello friends!

After the last 20+ months that felt like moving in slow motion, things are now moving fast and I am here for it!

My full caption will not fit here, so to read all about it, click the link in my bio for the GoFundMe or go to my FB page because there’s lots to share this week! Pics will tell some of the story, though! First pic is the great crew from Cox Electric working on getting us ready to go. Swipe to see other captions.

Jerry has been incredible overseeing all the upfits- here he’s standing ready to assist Shawn from Honest Abe Plumbing to help get ready for our sinks!

Asheville Area Movers are the best!

I bought this kiln in May 2025 with grant funds (🙏), and I can’t wait to unbox it!

Everything that filled my garage is now lining one side of the studio.

And yet still plenty of room for the work still to come!

Kilns…

Our new-to-us oval.

Zack unloads materials for the wedging tables- so grateful for him and for neighbors who leave big carts in the loading dock for all to use!

Upfit Update #2

Hello friends!

After the last 20+ months that felt like moving in slow motion, things are now moving fast and I am here for it!

This week our name was added to our mailbox, which just made me squee with delight, and thank you, Emily (The Mill), for this and for answering ALL my questions as we make our new studio home!

The week has also seen most of our electrical upfits done (thank you Steve and team!), and the start to the plumbing (thank you Shawn!) - also thank you Jerry for all the support and oversight of the upfits. Next week we will pick up our new-to-us double sink just in time for installation. Asheville Area Movers beautifully moved kilns and most of our large studio equipment - slab roller, pug mill, carts, tables, and whatever we could wrap in place on the shelves, so some of our clay and kiln furniture. Will always happily recommend this company!

So, I know we have a big space, but I was concerned about moving so much over while the upfits continued and while Zack would need space for building tables. I was focused on making sure none of the new additions got in anyone's way, but as the pictures will show, I need to get used to the fact that we have room, although any potter/artist will tell you it takes almost no time at all to fill any space we are given!

Speaking of Zack: this weekend he's been working on our wedging tables, and has been so thorough and meticulous in their design and in planning the materials and construction, and I am so happy and grateful to have him on the team. Pictured is the first one, minus the wheels, and isn't it gorgeous?! Thank you, Zack!

Along the way, I've met more of my lovely neighbors (stay tuned for announcements of us joining some pop-ups in the building!), and absolutely every interaction with everyone at The Mill, from those who has been working with us toward our move in to those new building neighbors, has been so amazing I continue to pinch myself that I've landed here.

I want to share what we've been able to accomplish this far, thanks in large part to the donations received here and the tax-deductible donations received through our Fiscal Sponsor, The Village Potters Foundation:

• Studio deposit paid
• Sink and hot water heater purchased
• Materials for light demo, and wedging tables purchased
• Payroll for staff
• Moving large equipment and furniture

What's to come:
• Proposals have been approved for electrical and plumbing upfits which will be complete and due for payment this month
• Setting up new account for studio heat (gas)
• Setting up internet access
• Regular rent commences July 1
• Moving the rest of the studio, including furniture, tools, materials, and wares from two temporary studios
• Payroll for ongoing work as well as additional help for upfits and moving
• Updating studio insurance

In addition to the fundraising efforts, I am madly seeking and applying for any and every grant I can find - I know financing is possible, but I would love to start our new chapter with as little extra debt as possible. I share this next bit only because I know it will be suggested to me: Sadly, I no longer qualify to apply for the Asheville Recovers Together Grant as my new studio is actually in Woodfin. I did try to relocate in Asheville for 18+ months following the hurricane, and I thought since my original business was in Asheville it qualified, but that is not the case. As frustrating as that is, no grant is a guarantee of funds, and honestly I am so endlessly grateful for where I have landed, it very quickly sweeps that frustration away. But it is one less potential resource, so while I will continue my fundraising efforts, I will also seek financing so we can smoothly continue and finish all upfits, cover all costs and payroll, and have a buffer to support the first few months while we get back to full capacity production.

Again and again, thank you so much for your support. Whether you have donated or shared or sent some of the many encouraging and loving messages, I am in a constant state of deep gratitude. There is still so much to be done, but it's all being done with the biggest smile because I continually feel so much support from so many places I know we will get it all done.

I can't believe everything that's happened in the past two weeks, and I absolutely cannot wait to be fully installed in our new, beautiful studio!

Oh and tentative opening celebration will be sometime in September, so stay tuned for that, too! xo

New Studio Upfit: Update #1

Say hello to Zack! This week, the wonderful plumbing and electrics team who work with The Mill will begin their upfits (you'll meet them if I can catch them with a camera!), and Zack here will be taking care of the building and build out aspects of preparing our space for the July 1 move in.

First step: turn the two small office spaces into our kiln room/glaze mixing space. To do this, Zack has removed the inside wall separating the rooms, and is widening the door so we can easily move kilns into place. He's doing some other wonderful touches that will give us increased storage, and next week he'll begin working on our new wedging tables.

While this is happening, the studio team is busy in various places firing wholesale orders that ship out next week, helping make items for Cúrate at Home for delivery by the end of the month, and organizing things in storage to be moved into the new space.

I'm also researching and applying for other grants to help us with this transition, and to ensure we don't lose too much time in production as there are multiple orders waiting in the wings to be completed. Every donation is helping in big and small ways: from purchasing the sinks to the sponges and cleaning supplies and everything in between.

Thank you so very much for your support (and for sharing this - every time I'm tagged is like a warm hug!) - stay tuned for more updates!

We've signed the lease, and I'll be adding updates as we go to the fundraiser. Thank you so much to those who have made contributions, and for those sharing and spreading the word. All the projections for what would be needed to open our new space are now defined costs. Donations will help us with upfits and moving so we can begin work as soon as possible after we move in July 1. More updates will be coming fast and furious!

I loved creating these little cuties for Cúrate, and my team and I still love making them 13 years in. And I love seeing people post their piggies, and have met so many people who love and collect them! Also so grateful to be able to make them without interruption (thanks to Tim and Cassie for letting us take over the basement studio and to Sprinkle and Kris for making sure we still deliver on time!

18 months post hurricane and I’m still on the slow road to recovery. I’m launching a fundraiser now to support this next phase of getting a new space upfit and ready for production. There are two ways to help: a GoFundMe and, thanks to support from The Village Potters Foundation as my fiscal sponsor, I can also receive tax-deductible donations. Details are in my newsletter and on my website (and in links on my IG bio). I live in gratitude for the support I’ve received over the past 18 months, and I’m so ready to be back at work!
