There has been a lot of reminiscing today about Charlie. Yesterday would have been his 66th birthday.

Charles “Charlie” Burns was the first character to be sketched for the Haywood Street Fresco. He was a friend to many and an integral part of the creation of Haywood Street. His life will live on in the hearts of friends and his larger-than-life-portrait provides us with a daily reminder of his tender heart and fierce spirit.

Note from a recent visitor to the Fresco:
“I have now visited the fresco and have been moved to tears after watching “Theirs Is the Kingdom.” Sandwiched between a visit to the Biltmore Estate and the Grove Park Inn, the ‘meat’ of my visit was to Haywood Street Congregation. There I found many many smiling faces sharing breakfast. The warmth and friendship among the people was palpable.”

Next week, he’ll be at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI. ⁣

Then off to Nashville, TN the first week in April for a private advance screening through Docsology.

Next month will bring hundreds (more than 230 confirmed airdates!) of Theirs Is The Kingdom on PBS stations across the country, leading to a national WORLD Channel broadcast on Easter at 12:30pm (EST).

Exciting News!! “Theirs Is The Kingdom” will be making its broadcast and digital premieres this March and April (2022) on PBS stations around the country and the WORLD Channel. We are heartbroken to learn that our friend Keith Bryant passed away. In the fresco he is depicted helping to lift the table. For years he lifted the ministries of in many ways. There will be a celebration of his life in the sanctuary at noon this Sunday, March 13.
