This event marks the first Hendersonville screening of the pilot episode of a bold new historical fiction series set in 1940s Los Angeles. The Rebirth of Kool blends jazz, dance and vintage glamour into a visually stunning musical that reclaims the 1940's with a modernized lens.

Shot locally in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Brevard, as well as Charleston Beach, this dazzling series pilot features a star-studded cast bringing the magic of the 1940s to life.Based on the hit novel of the same name by local author, actor, entertainer and 2024/2025 Wortham Center Artist-in-Residence Otto Vazquez, the storyline is anchored in the true-life events of WWII-era Los Angeles, like the Zoot Suit Riots and other, lesser-known chapters in history. This musical production is presented by Fesiuk Films, known for its popular films on Amazon, Freevee, and Roku, including hits like Rosebud Lane and Origins Untold. They are rising stars in the film industry. Joining forces with Fesiuk Films is Nu Paradigm Entertainment, recognized for its talent on shows such as American Soul on BET and at Sadler's Wells Breakin’ Convention, an international hip-hop theatre festival in the UK. This special collaboration has brought this series to life.The pilot hosts remarkable musical talent: Juan Benavides (The Old Ways, "La Llorona") and an original version of "Como Fue." Oscar-nominated hair stylist Patricia Gail Hensley (Titanic, West Side Story, Killers of the Flower Moon) and up-and-coming actors like Erik Bello (Cobra Kai, The Walking Dead) and Otto Vazquez (Origins Untold, Broadway) contribute to this talented dream team.This special event is not just a premiere; it’s a fundraiser to help propel the series to major platforms.
