This piece of was cut down 1922 near in rural North Carolina and was kept in a barn for 30 years until my grandfather purchased it after discharging from the military. It then sat in a storage building for an additional 70 years, until I found it when he moved. The metal around the base is a lightning rod taken off a house built sometime in the mid 1800’s in what was at the time referred to as Rippy’s Township #3, which now encompasses the better part of lower cleveland county. The wood on the base is a mix of and . This is a beautiful piece of history and it was such an honor to bring these forgotten relics back to life so hopefully they will be remembered or years and years to come.
