We are so pleased to welcome Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman to the Mark Bettis Family!

Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman is an artist and designer who sees art and design as inseparable each enriching the other through unique perspectives and creative problem-solving. Guided by a deep curiosity, she finds inspiration in unexpected places, drawing connections between seemingly unrelated ideas.

For her, design transforms the everyday into the extraordinary, while art infuses function and form with emotional resonance. With over 25 years of teaching at Pratt Institute, she has encouraged students to blur boundaries between disciplines, exploring the interplay of creativity, technology, and humanity.

Mark Bettis and Nabil El Jaouhari’s original work has been accepted into the 20th Annual Art in Bloom Regional Artist Exhibit at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. This special exhibition pairs fine art with live floral design and celebrates creative talent from across Western North Carolina. This year marks the event’s 20th anniversary. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 29 through June 21.

An opening celebration, First Bloom: A Sneak Peek Event on Thursday, June 18, from 6:30–8:00 PM. Guests will be among the first to experience the gallery pieces paired with fresh floral interpretations while enjoying drinks and desserts. Tickets for First Bloom, local garden tours, and event passes are available at

NEW ARTIST!

We are so happy to welcome sculpture artist Joel Urruty to the Mark Bettis Family!

Born in 1968 in San Francisco CA, the son of Basque immigrants from the South of France, Joel Urruty is an artist working in various metals, creating abstract sculptures and wall assemblages.

Joel’s sculptures have been exhibited internationally. His work can be found in the permanent collection of the Asheville Art Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Art and the Honolulu Museum of Art.
