I started the band Tom Hoa Binh & The Peacemakers with a concept of PTSD Outreach and recovery through music."Hoa Binh" (pronounced "Wa Bin") means "Peace" in Vietnamese. I was a helicopter door gunner and crew chief in Vietnam who is permanently and totally disabled from the effects of combat PTSD. I wrote a lot of poetry in Vietnam and afterward that has helped me understand it better and, than
ks to my loving Band Of Brothers and counselors and my family and friends, have learned how to express these feelings and outcomes through music and songwriting. We're all healing each other. I and The Peacemakers have found that performing these songs, mostly written by myself, have helped heal and direct the PTSD sufferer (ain't just from combat ya' know !) to seek help through the mental health and healing community. We are currently producing an album, called "The Door To Hoa Binh" along with several friends, of healing PTSD songs (and some just plain old loving songs) for the public to enjoy and understand, reaching out to the PTSD sufferer and their families. Each "show" has some musical theater in it that helps people perceive better the consequences PTSD has on the person, family, friends and even (in some general sense) the nation. Our outreach includes interfacing with the Veteran and military and mental health communities, families, homeless Veterans (and others),churches and others. It is much misunderstood and maligned sometimes as a hopeless condition ending in some nasty results. But there is much hope and help to be found in many avenues, through the love and healing concern of families, friends and the mental mental health community . PTSD outreach and information is one of Tom Hoa Binh & The Peacemakers key missions. We embrace the wonderful spirituality that performing good music and singing thoughtful, healing songs gives to us through our audiences. Songs include: "Good Bye Mama (I'm Going Off To War)", "In A Heartbeat", "War Vibration"," Love's Lace Postponed", "Band of Brothers"," Can't Shoot Through The Tears", "The Door To Hoa Binh", "Some Day (I'm Comin' Home)" and many more plus some cover songs pertinent to PTSD Exposure, Resolution and Recovery.
