It's funny, my husband was just asking me last night why I write, and I told him that, given I believe we are all one being with many perspectives, I strive to collect all the perspectives! I find poetry to be such a perfect tool for conveying complicated concepts, and I value a species most based on how well they're able to communicate with one another (shout out mushrooms 🍄). I hope my poetry is properly conveying my experiences and my perspective, and I really hope that you'll try to share yours as well 🥰

Monday quote from Gwendolyn Brooks in honor of her birthday yesterday! I was reading something recently by a poet who decided that AI would in fact replace her, and I just couldn't disagree more. I understand that I'm not the greatest poet, and I know what truly great poetry sounds like, but I think my new collection is connecting with people because it's so damn raw. I don't edit my work like I should, and I almost never peer review. I have typos on my posts, and my handwritten letters smudge from tear stains that make them impossible to read. Poetry is life. You can't fake that, or replicate it. You can try to be like the greats, sure, but I just don't think that's the point. The point is to share your life honestly and connect with other living beings. I'm not competing with robots on how best to be human 😅
