It's been a while since we've gotten out to a show. But I hear this one is Quality. (And the director, SM, and musician all have ITP ties, so that's fun.)

Just heard today about the death of Tony Kiss. If it had not been for Tony and Jim Cavener tirelessly promoting local theater 20 years ago, it's hard to imagine how numerous Asheville companies, certainly including Immediate Theatre Project, would have found an audience base. It's been harder since The Citizen-Times decided to stop running reviews, that's for sure (in exchange , I'm using this photo from their website without asking.) But my favorite memory of Tony is probably when he caught flack for promoting a production we sponsored a few years ago of My Name is Rachel Corrie: in the face of threats against him for doing his job (so much so that we hired security on performance nights), he shrugged it off, said "Nothing like being lumped in with the N***s to get your day going!" and let me know he was looking forward to our next production. Thank you, Tony. You leave a big hole all across this town.

Spending the days with the likes of Shakespeare, Ted Hughes, Aeschylus, and contemporary poet and conservationist Ruth Padel (in the flesh!). But noticing the local critters and their plants, too.
